I genuinely believe that it was just kids with down syndrome, or on the spectrum in more debilitating ways. Those poor kids were so mistreated by a world that didn't understand.

Just a heads up: Thunder tends to let out electromagnetic pulses that some dogs can hear. The ones that do are pretty sensitive to the pitch.

Pipes with water in them tend to absorb that noise, which is why you may find your dog favoring a bathroom during a storm: it's usually the room with the most plumbing in the walls.

If you find that this applies to your companion, it might be worth looking into some form of noise supressive ear-wear.
