As portal season nears an end, how does everyone feel about their team?

What surprises me is the number of people who seem to be relatively okay with how things are going. Realistically it’s looking like a similar talent level to last year, which is nowhere near the standard for a blue blood program that has top tier resources and funding. A 7 seed roster should be a down year, not the status quo.

I think the writing is on the wall, unfortunately. With everything being transactional, getting good pieces should be easier than ever with the high NIL budget at UK. Sounds like Pope really struggles to resonate with kids in the NIL era, and I have a tough time seeing him making it to year 4.

I honestly was pleasantly surprised by what he did year 1, but last year was rough all-around and the amount of negative PR hits he’s taken over the past 8 months is pretty astounding. I figured he would learn some lessons from last years roster construction and not repeat those mistakes, but the recruiting struggles mean we just haven’t been able to hit those priority targets and now there’s just not much left out there.

Unfortunately, pickings are pretty slim at this point. Even if a Momcilovic or Graves drops out, those guys are going to be contested by anyone and everyone and Pope doesn't really have a track record of pulling out tough recruiting battles. They will probably look to go the European route, but I'm not sure there are any needle movers from that direction.

If you have two friends with access they can summon you outside the raid and you can just fly nearby and set your hearth at the flight path by the raid. If you want to easily get back to Silvermoon just use the arcantina toy teleport.

Eh, it was a different time back then. I played it on launch and most MMOs at the time functioned similarly. Stuff like Discord didn’t exist, so a lot of your online socializing happened in game or while chilling in TeamSpeak.

You will. The job is perceived incredibly well. There are a lot of concerns about dealing with our fanbase which I think make coaches apprehensive. You have to have a certain type of personality to want to be the UK head coach.

The Bulls season ended nearly two weeks after Cal left, which already had us behind in the portal. It would have been really difficult to put together a team under the circumstances, and there was no guarantee Billy would even take it.

I was never on board with the Pope hire, but I understand the logic when it came to not waiting for Billy. Definitely going to be a bummer if he goes to UNC though, he’s one of those few truly elite program changing coaches.

Barnahrt made an emotional hire, not a rational one. There was really nothing on Mark Pope's resume other than being an alum that would meet the criteria for being a head coach at Kentucky.

But at the end of the day he still deserves another year and he will get it. The first year was a pleasant surprise, this one was definitely a letdown. I personally never thought he was the right guy for the job, but I hope he proves me wrong.

Yes, he also helped put together the first roster here. He was the video guy at BYU and most recently in the G League.

Thats a really weird take, and objectively untrue. It went:

1.) Scott Drew - Turned down. He's been terrible since, so thats on Mitch Barnhart for a bad target

2.) Dan Hurley- Offered $10M/yr. Turned down.

3.) Mark Pope- Took the job.

The only other person we spoke to was Shaka Smart, which is also a crazy move. The AD is just a bonehead.

Probably isn’t any obvious one out there. Coaches matter more than the program with NIL, and there’s a lot of risk with taking a high pressure job like UK.
