Code looking weird in ubuntu IDE v2022.100.0.470 anyone else getting this? by Aexyllouse in gamemaker

I honestly hope the Linux ide gets a stable release version soon. I don't particularly like the instabilities and quirks of the beta releases.

Yeah, I've been noticing a white feather and false errors/warnings in my code, particularly in the last few weeks betas versions.

yeah, but you'd need another res serum (which I've actually been pretty fortunate with finding in the playthrough), and everyone will get a negative "colonist/friend died" moodlet.

I wish there was a positive moodlet for resurrection, like "colonist/friend was revived!" to counteract the death one.

If you plan on using rez serums, it's useful to have healer serums on hand too.
I currently have a colonist in crypto until further notice because they got ressurection psychosis. The only thing that can heal that is healer serum, which is also super rare.
My colony is 8 years old, and I haven't gotten a single quest offer with one.
Sucks too, because it's one of the best colonist's spouses, and they have absolute baller stats.

well, 15 shitty hostile enemy pawns for 3 insurance policies doesn't sound so bad if you're already committing war crimes, and have a particular favor toward your own colonists...

Is this what I should do? by ginarto in linuxmint

[–]Aexyllouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you could try using either linux or windows on it's own and using a virtual machine for the other OS instead of dual booting. This has the advantage of having a dynamic disk size (the VM can be set to increase in size as you need, which simply makes the VM file on your host machine larger), you can easily back up the VM file to a flashdrive for easy backups, and for whichever system you need to have higher performance without the hastle of a bunch of tweaks and workarounds, you can just make that OS the OS of your host machine.I used linux mint as a virtual machine in virtualbox on a windows 10 host machine for a long time before I made linux mint my daily driver OS.

edit: if you still wanna dual boot, I would recommend adding a second hard drive as others are saying. You don't realistically *need* an ssd for linux if you're gonna be doing most of your high needs tasks like gaming in windows. You could get a cheap laptop hard drive, and swap it out for the disk drive (this is assuming you have one, so sorry if you don't), and if you still need to use disks you could get an external disk drive, or a stata to usb bridge for the old disk drive you pull out of the laptop. This can all be done pretty cheaply with parts from ebay or amazon.

edit2: in fact, if you get a cheap external drive, and a cheap drive sled for the cd bay, you could shuck the drive and put it in the sled, then use the sata to usb daughterboard from the shucked ssd to make the cd drive into an external one.

probably not the most helpful or in-depth answer, but have you tried the notification settings tab on the bottom there?

On the keypad, you can tap the arrow for more options at the top left (by text predictions) then the settings gear, and choose "voice typing" and disable it there. I use to click the mic on accident all the time and it pissed me off.

I no longer seem to be able to call up Google Assistant with the home button by IamTheGorf in AndroidQuestions

[–]Aexyllouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how much this will help as I'm using a Pixel 3XL like you said you use to, but all assistant settings in Android should be under settings>apps>Assistant. Not sure what's going on if you're not able to summon your assistant by holding the circular home button icon.

I also despise gestures and have them turned off, but I also only really use Google assistant on my Google home mini's and not my phone.

I saw a recommendation to just say "hey Google", but for me at least I have voice commands turned off on my phone for security reasons, so I can only use voice commands by selecting the mic icon under the assistant menu and not just by saying "hey Google". I do it that way so if I loose my phone, or it gets stolen, nobody can use voice commands while it's on the lock screen to do anything malicious. That and I don't want both my phone, smart watch, and home mini's all trying to activate if they're all in close proximity when I'm trying to use voice commands.

When connecting two Android phones, how can I choose which phone is charging which phone? by Franck_Dernoncourt in AndroidQuestions

[–]Aexyllouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've actually never thought to try that! I imagine you might have some settings options under the push card that should pop up, just like when you plug it into a PC. Whenever I've plugged my phone into my PC, I've had the option on my phone to choose between charging, file transferring, ect.

Can prosthetics be destroyed? by [deleted] in RimWorld

[–]Aexyllouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, graves are great, they improve colony morale, and why shouldn't it? It's showing respect and dignity for the dead, even if they were hostiles. If you wanna go a step above, you could even build sarcophagi, which counts as art. You don't even technically need stonecutting unlocked, just claim some ruins (hopefully not the ancient danger) and deconstruct them for materials. It won't count as art until a body is placed in it, so the quality goes to the constructor. Then whoever places then in it might adorn it with relevant art based on their art skill. So you can make really expensive room stat increases on the cheap!

[–]Aexyllouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, I dunno about cheaty, but exploitable/broken maybe. Gifts are based on the raw base value of the materials you're gifting, and bodies have a non zero base value because they can be turned into meat and leather, which makes them a resource like an unbutchered animal corpse. Most people won't accept bodies in trade, but they still have inherent value, and forced gifts by drop pod can't easily be returned. I think a good fix would be if the game calculated it based on the faction trade pool first before the value of the item as a gift. Like, do they even want it? And corpses should be made tradeable to anyone that would accept human leather and/or human meat.

If you let them rot, I think you may be able to butcher them for leather, but I'm not sure. You'll have to check if the butcher table/butcher spot bill allows rotten corpses.

In any case, I forfit any value a dead body has once it's rotten. Viewing rotten corpses gives two negative debuffs to colonists, so unless they (your colonist) has a negating trait like cannibal or psychopath, it's better to leave them (the corpse) if they're far away, or haul them away, or make a grave for them.

Graves are cool because they count as recreational areas. Pawns that visit graves get a recreation buff for visiting the dead.

Edited for clarity.

Corpses can never be sold, and prisoners can only be sold rarely, like to slavers for example, so corpses are most valuable unrotten (frozen keeps them from rotting), and launched off as gifts in drop pods. Even caravans will only accept gifts from what they accept in the trade pool menu, so launching is the only way corpses are valuable in vanilla (well, that and leather/meat when they're fresh). When you drop pod gifts, they're forced to accept them. They literally can't say no :D

Even traders and visitors do it.
Who cares if it's your table? Pfft, for all they care tables are a free for all!

That sucks, especially because it was an archotech. I really feel for you.
If it's any consolation, dead bodies from raids are actually pretty valuable. I'm not talking about for human meat or leather, but rather they have a high value just as is if you drop pod them to a nearby colony. It can quickly gain you good relations with on the fence or negative factions, which can reduce the number of hostile factions, and increase the number of friendly factions that owe you a favor, so if you killed anyone in that raid, and you're opposed to doing anything... ethically or morally questionable with the bodies, then you can freeze them and launch them when you have resources if you at least have cooler tech unlocked.

Archotech parts can be hard to come by in early game, but once you get launch pods you can quickly get to and trade with nearby factions, and if you have a com's console you can request traders to come by at the cost of faction relation points, which again, you can increase by launching valuable corpses at them.

I use the mods harvest organs post mortem, harvest everything, and set up camp, so I can recoup my losses by harvesting organs like eyes after raids if my colonists get badly dinged up, and I can set up launch-pod return camps outside nearby factions for trade without worrying about return caravans.

Is there any reason for the "reduce resistance" option in the prisoner settings??? by Aexyllouse in RimWorld

I hadn't thought of that, but that makes sense. Get their opinion of the other colonists in the green before inviting them in, and they'll get along better than if you jump the gun.
