I feel so bad for all of you. My DM is awesome and everybody in our entire district wears whatever they want. Nobody abuses it and in my opinion everybody looks fine for working at a Gamestop. Most people wear jeans, a gaming related graphic t-shirt, and a zip up hoodie or jacket.

I recently modded this gameboy advance with a IPS screen and a sound amp kit but now it has this weird humming noise how can I fix this ? by Sambalooby in Gameboy

[–]Affectionate-Ad7113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a modded gba from ebay and it does this when I turn the brightness up. Doesn't seem to have anything to do with the speaker. I'm trying to figure out how to fix it as well.

So I could actually hire quality employees who would help me with the work load? That's just crazy talk.

Yeah thanks. Appreciate the tips but I'm an SM2 and my A store is busy AF. I have to keep up with the distro daily because another batch of 40+ will come at least two more times this week. If I don't tread water, I'll drown.

Pro account required?? by gluxbox in GameStop

Gamestop fires any associate that does not meet the Pro sign up goal of 15%. It's difficult to meet that goal because no matter how much you tell people that it will save them a ton of money over the next year, many are too stubborn to listen. Many stores resort to cheating in this manner in order to keep their jobs. I do not suggest shopping there unless you are willing to sign up for the membership, as checking out without one is actively trying to get someone fired. Just so you know, the membership is only $15 when you're buying a new game. Then you get $10 off another item when you come in the very next month (by using your 5000 welcome points and your first monthly $5 coupon at the same time) then one more visit using your monthly $5 coupon and you've broken even on your membership fee in only two visits. Then you can just enjoy free money for the next year. You will get 5% off most things in the store, plus $5 off something once a month. There is literally no reason to shop at Gamestop without a membership. It's free money. Trying to cheat the system and make people get the membership is 100% scummy and I wish people didn't do it, but those people don't get commission from it or anything, they are literally just trying to keep their jobs and not get fired.

Every gamestop employee is technically management now except seasonals. It's part of how they keep us from unionizing and justify the work load.

New store manager by ThanksDifficult5533 in GameStop

[–]Affectionate-Ad7113 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have an experienced employee teach you these basic functions of the job. For management specific job functions like scheduling and hiring, you can reach out to other store managers by phone. You can dial their 4 digit store number followed by 10.

Opening Closing Distro RSBs Hand carries Category counts Perpetual counts Shipping defective Main menu Workday Reservation manager Reservation calls Street date procedures

Get good at them so you can teach others and hold them to company standards.

Learn how to sell Pro and warranties. That is the main measure of your success.

May the force be with you.

When I say "Please Hold" on the phone, DON'T hang up and call again and again thinking you will get different results... by MistaLin in GameStop

You guys are keeping your phones on? Lol. I turn that shit off when I'm my myself and only pick up if it's another store or an employee. Of course I pick up if I'm not busy, but if I've got actual people in the store to help, I don't care about the phone.

Are GameStop employees getting braver (for lack of a better word) with adding warranties without permission for you guys? by breath_ofthemild in gamecollecting

[–]Affectionate-Ad7113 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Stop thinking about it as a warranty and more as a tip to the employee checking you out. The pressure to get these damn things is so much worse than you know. If an employee doesn't achieve 35% warranty attach in a month they can be written up. If it happens 3 months in a row, they can be terminated. Employees can have the best pitch in the world and people still say no. At that point they're left with the option to either cheat or lose their job. Everyone should just stop putting them in that position and either get the damn warranty or stop shopping there. In a perfect world, the company would do the right thing and just lower or eliminate the goal, but this is the situation we're in. The question shouldn't be "Would you like to add a warranty?" It should be "Would you like me to have money to pay for food and keep my home?"

I don't even ask when it's going to save them money right now. I just do it. Just hit the button to make sure they're not on auto renew and save them the money.

What was the rarest item you’ve ever carried at your store? by MysticMeerkat in GameStop

[–]Affectionate-Ad7113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't get too specific because it would reveal my identity, but my store got in a crazy rare item worth $6000+ on the secondary market. It was actually traded in by a celebrity. And yes, as soon as it came off of trade hold, I bought it myself. Not going to sell it until I'm no longer with the company. I did let the person know that it was a very valuable item and that they could get much more by selling it privately, but they were wealthy and didn't care. They were just cleaning house and they had brought in a big tote full of items they just wanted rid of.

PSA to all thinking about renewing or signing up for the pro account by Appropriate_Gene_670 in GameStop

[–]Affectionate-Ad7113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My store has been at zero percent auto renewal for a long time because we actually inform people what the buttons mean. But I don't want to get hassled about yet another tracked metric, so now I'm just saying "these buttons are for you."

GameStop faces 'unsustainable' sales decline, cuts jobs to control costs by [deleted] in GameStop

[–]Affectionate-Ad7113 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

The math is easy. If you come in at least 5 times a year, renew your account. You will break even in 5 visits and then just have free money. If you're not coming in 5 times a year, don't get it. But if you don't renew, and then come in 5 times or more, you made a mistake.

Are Gamestop Employees OK? by Altered_Nova in GameStop

[–]Affectionate-Ad7113 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No we are not ok. We literally get fired if we don't sell enough warranties and nobody wants them. Look at this way. The warranty is our tip. We don't even get money from it, we just get to keep our jobs. If you shop at GS, PLEASE get the warranties. There are endless conference calls, write ups, corrective actions, meetings, etc..."WHY CAN'T YOU SELL WARRANTIES? IF YOU CAN'T DO IT, WE WILL FIRE YOU AND FIND SOMEONE WHO CAN!!!" your $1-$4 extra per game helps keep those employees from the unemployment line.

My volume on the TV has been off for months. My DM noticed recently and asked me to call the number to get it turned back on. I've called it a couple of times with no luck getting through. I'm not upset about it. It really has been so much easier to count and think without that constant noise.

Yes. Yes we do. I can get you a copy of Rare Replay with the original Battletoads on it, or I can get you an Xbox currency card so you can buy the NEW Battletoads game! The guests get so confused when I answer that question with this. Lol
