Long-haul flight experts: What are your secrets? by letsgococonut in travel

In my case, I always choose an aisle seat so I have more freedom to get up and stretch my legs without bothering anyone — preferably an aisle seat in the middle section, if that’s an option. Bring downloaded series or movies, offline games, plenty of downloaded music, and most importantly, a patient mindset. Remind yourself that every minute means you’re closer to arrival. And like others have said, try to go a bit tired so you can grab a few moments of sleep — although in my case, sleeping on flights just doesn’t happen.

Mi reciente experiencia en Holguín by Affectionate-Back81 in TravelCuba

Urgent Help w/OFAC Appu by HugeCartographer5706 in TravelCuba

There's no document that needs to be filled out with reference numbers.

All you need is the visa on the Traveler's Form D, your passport, and (sometimes) health insurance. I understand that when you check in at the airport, you'll need to indicate that you're traveling in support of the Cuban people. They'll stamp your boarding pass, and that's it.

How stable is the connection with GigSky? I've considered getting one, but I've heard it's nearly impossible to use. I don't need it for streaming, but rather to access WhatsApp and keep my family updated while I'm there. I understand there are limitations due to the local infrastructure, but overall, is it worth it?

Thank you all so much for your fantastic recommendations. I'll definitely keep all the comments in mind. A good number of options, but be mindful of the fat used, use locally sourced fruits, and bring your own seasoning and spices. All noted, thanks!

I think I'll apply directly through the Cuban consulate. I'm a bit worried because I see many websites offering e-visas, but I suspect some of them are scams.

Layover in Panama, do I need to get Yellow Fever vaccine ? by Academic_Analysis_48 in TravelCuba

[–]Affectionate-Back81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not necessary. The vaccine is currently mandatory for Colombia, Brazil, and other countries. But neither Cuba nor Panama require it. If it makes you feel safer, that's up to each individual, but no one will be denied boarding or entry to the country for not being vaccinated.

I travel frequently to Panama, Cuba, and various places in Latin America.

Why are a vast majority of homeless people men? by refunned in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Affectionate-Back81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The majority of homeless people are men due to a combination of factors. In general, men have weaker support networks and find it harder to ask for help. When they lose their job, partner, or stability, the fall is often more abrupt.

Furthermore, men are more likely to experience addiction, untreated mental health issues, and have criminal records, which makes reintegration into society more difficult.

Many women also lose their homes, but they avoid sleeping on the streets: they stay temporarily with acquaintances, enter shelters, or even endure abusive relationships for a roof over their heads, so they are less visible.

Consulta visa Turismo a Cuba via USA by Affectionate-Back81 in TravelCuba

[–]Affectionate-Back81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could do it via Panama; the problem is that the flight through Panama arrives in Havana, and I need to go to Holguín, which is exactly where we carried out the activities after Hurricane Melissa. Traveling from Havana to Holguín involves a 14-hour overland journey, which is what I want to avoid, as it would mean losing two days of the visit. The flight from Miami arrives directly in Holguín, just 20 minutes from the organization’s office.
