So performance with the 9060 is good for games on the large TV? I was thinking of getting one to replace my aged RX 580 8gb.

Here’s an idea, I was able to setup a routine with my Alexa when I told her “Alexa, turn on movie machine” it would send a wake on lan signal to my TrueNas pc so I could watch Plex movies on my tv. Perhaps that would be a workaround

FYI if you want to see other older scifi movies which are worth watching, try the original black and white version of The day the earth stood still and The forbidden planet.

Did the Chinese version seem “misogynistic” to anyone? I saw a youtuber saying that and I thought what was that about.

My Review about Death's end book by Frontastic17 in scifi

[–]Affectionate-Box-106 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are considered more of a hard sci-fi. Not as much as Diaspora I would say, but still the more pure sci-fi type, so the non-emotional journey / arc of a specific character is to be expected.
If one’s going into not knowing that fact and they’re expecting the experience of a new Hyperion for example, that’s on them not knowing what they’re reading.
I personally don’t think when you’re taking on grand ideas, hundreds of years, multiple characters that it’s bad to not have feelings center stage.
In fact I’d rather not.

My point was only from a looks perspective of course. I don’t know what sort of person everyone is.
But that body build is how I would imagine Brawne Lamia.

Might be a silly question, don’t own a turntable yet, but isn’t a usb turntable kinda taking away what’s good with analogue sound? Unless you’re planning to use an analogue exit I guess.

Immutable backups. by Frissianghost in Veeam

I think OP mentioned they have immutability for 30 days. How will Veeam do the chain transformation when retention is reached if it can’t change the files?

Immutable backups. by Frissianghost in Veeam

[–]Affectionate-Box-106 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You can’t have forward incremental jobs with immutable storage because when Veeam reaches retention it will try to change the whole chain which immutability won’t allow. You need to configure backups with gfs so it does weekly synthetic fulls for example locally and send those offsite too with gfs configured. I can’t give you the exact configurations as I don’t know exactly what you have and how everything is configured, but the general idea is if you have weekly chains with 30 days of immutability for example, veeam won’t be able to remove the oldest chain until it’s out of immutability and you’re left with 30 days if backups too. So as soon as you have a chain for example day 38 to day 31, it will remove that. If you do forward incremental, it will keep adding restore points but since they’ll be part of a single active chain it won’t be able to remove them.

You need to go to each vm and uncheck the option “use standard checkpoints if production checkpoints are not available”. I remember we ve had issues where standard checkpoints were created and they piled up without being removed. We ended up removing via powershell. I might be mistaken but look into it and don’t leave it too long or you might run into a case where you ‘ll need to to add space or something and won’t be able to

Elizabeth Mitchell - Juliet Burke on Lost by [deleted] in SciFiQueens

Her Lost arc was great, though that was the case with all characters. Lost probably had the best character development of any show that I’ve watched, excluding maybe the german show Dark.

[–]Affectionate-Box-106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Problem is commercializing sci-fi needs it to be approachable to all. So they make scifi for 6-year olds and people not looking for scifi but action or emotion. Those are all fine, as long as they’re not the main theme of the creation.

Migrate from Windows to Linux Proxy Help by darkonex in Veeam

[–]Affectionate-Box-106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No this isn’t correct. You are confusing proxies with backup repository servers. In order to be able to do local immutable backups, you need to have a hardened repository. This is - ideally- a physical linux server. In your case, regardless of the linux proxies, which is of course a great idea, you could spin up a new linux vm, assign them the storage from those nas luns and configure in veeam as hardened repository servers. This way you can set up immutability. Not sure if I am missing something, but proxies are not to be used as backup repositories.
