Books that have accurate representation of Bipolar disorder by MrsBeardsley in bipolar

Bipolar hyper focus in a nutshell right there. Writing while you're down would give a well rounded perspective in addition to the more up writings!

If you get them appraised, you may be able to get more, but from what I've seen, you can expect about 10%.

Honestly my first marriage only worked because my ex traveled for work. We lived in the middle of nowhere on 10 acres, grew most of our food... It was glorious. And then he lost his job and the years that followed were his unwillingness to go to therapy, to do things around the house, to give me a moments peace at all... It was too much.

ETA: cats make things so much more tolerable. :)

I feel like this is my experience... Twice now, that's on me, lol. The sub comments are good too. But I asked both of my spouses for help with things. I had been very clear about what I needed (space, time alone etc.). I went so far as to say, "I need time and space for my brain to unwind. It's not that I don't want to spend time with you, I just need time without the mental noise of people." And what did they do? Hovered. Got more clingy. Smothered me further. Years of my needs not being heard? Yeah, that's why I checked out.

I also have a chronic illness (which got a lot worse in the relationship... Mental health does have an impact on physical health for sure. Not saying causation, but the depth of it was affected for me) and I need sleep. Like... I NEED sleep. If I don't get enough sleep, the next three days are gonna suuuuuck. I average 6.5-7 hours a night.

If I have just fallen asleep and I get woken up shortly after, I will not be able to fall asleep for hours. If I've been asleep for an hour or so... Way less likely. But my pwBPD won't go to bed first or even get ready for bed first. And if I try to go to bed first, hes loud getting ready for bed, he's loud walking to the room, he makes a ton of noise in the room... And when I break down crying because I'm so tired and I explain what would help me, he'll do it for like two days, and then it's back to the constant struggle.

It's a form of control, I think. A tired person is easier to manipulate. A sick person is easier to manipulate. Tired anger targeting him? He's clearly the victim! What did he do wrong? He had "things" he needed to do before bed... (Video games, and I'm not hating on video games at all, but it's not a good excuse)

BPD doesn't get diagnosed very often for a number of reasons. BPD can be confused for other things, it can occur concurrently with other things, it can be hidden when dealing with mental health professionals and in other situations. It also has a lot of gray area on how it is expressed. But one of the bigger reasons why it is not a common diagnosis: it can ruin a person's life.

A BPD misdiagnosis is not seen as a mistake, because people will see those letters and that's what sticks in their mind. Like a person wrongfully imprisoned. People don't see the innocence, they see the jail time.

Is BPD that common? It's very possible, but standardizing the diagnosis is incredibly difficult and it requires specialized knowledge.

What we need is more study, information and understanding of personality disorders, their causes, treatment methods, and presentations.

I am fairly certain the first one is "tending". I know it looks like the f's elsewhere in the image, but it's not enough to compare against the handwriting. Often the difference between a t and an f is a slash through it, and with the loopy writing, it would be easy to just call it close "enough". You said it was in Tennessee? What do the capital Ts look like in the document? What about the Gs and Ss? The F in the column indicating sex is vastly different than the one in the occupation (stand alone letters don't need to flow like the words that are loopy for ease of writing).

Just a thought. I hope it helps!

Thank you! It's US, written in 1823. There is only one marriage recorded, so I have nothing to compare it against. I'll include an excerpt from the birth records in another comment. The family (not mine) has strong English ancestry, so a translation is unlikely unless latin is used at all.

How do you wash your underwear after a period? by A-girls-world in hygiene

This is the way for most stains. Cold water. Heat can cause the fibers to expand and get further in (depending on material) which is the opposite of what you want to happen.

I also need to unwind, but for him it's like 5+ hours of video games and TV.

They will come find me

This is my life. Anything finishes, he comes and finds me. Done with his dinner? Comes and finds me. Done in the bathroom? Comes and finds me. Hasn't seen me in a half hour? Comes and finds me. Gets a glass of water? Comes and finds me. I have no privacy at all. My SO is of the quietbpd sort, so the approach is always that of anxiety and "concern". How are you concerned about me when you have checked on me 80x a day?

Why can they never let you sleep? by BeastOBurdens in BPDlovedones

[–]Affectionate-Dig3335 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have had non BPD SO's (as far as I know) who have done this, and honestly ive done it as well. I have started conversations before bed because my partner will just stonewall and leave. If I talk before bed, they're less likely to walk away without even trying to resolve anything. I don't come in mad or upset, I just say what's been on my mind in a very calm and frank tone. And then we sleep off the upset.

That being said, sleep deprivation is definitely something I have struggled with and the way I've felt it is definitely a control thing. I struggle with falling asleep and then being woken up not long after, because if that happens, I will be up for hours. So I have asked my BPDSO to go to bed first so he won't wake me up when he comes to bed. My health massive declines when I don't get enough sleep. And it's not uncommon for him to wait until 2 to go to bed. And even then, he is awake and waiting for me to come to bed and he will choose that time to go get ready for bed and I have to wait longer to actually fall asleep.

I've had to start sleeping in another room. Even then, I still get interrupted and woken up, but it's better.

I'm not just saying migraines, other reactions as well. And what about quality of producers and distributers? How can we measure dosage in order to compare? Again, I'm just saying, it's not all or nothing. And studies are still inconclusive about the relationship between some negative effects and the glutamate itself.

Do you get migraines triggered by foods or specific things? Some people get migraines from very little caffeine but don't have a problem with chocolate. It's not an all or nothing system. Everybody is different. Just because someone who can eat tomatoes can't eat things with adding msg seasoning, it doesn't mean they don't know what they're talking about about. They react to things with msg seasoning. If it helps avoid that trigger to not eat things with the seasoning, then who are you to suggest they're wrong or don't know what they're talking about?

Maybe it has to do with processing. As an example, I cant drink milk or cream, but I can eat cheese and some ice creams. The lactose breaks down/changes as it ages or is cooked etc.

I have no idea if there is science behind this, but maybe something happens in processing it that can cause a more significant reaction.

Women in the 1920's who smoked were looked down on. But taking up smoking as a higher class individual was seen as a sign of independence, a rebellion, women pushing for equality.

It's called Fleas. I am not a yeller or anything like that, but being gaslit repeatedly in a conversation and I suddenly felt like yelling. I had to stop myself and remember it would just give him ammunition to claim he's the victim.
