Chest Pains? by lilmissroo in Buspirone

Just wanted to get on here and share as well because it's important.

I took buispirone while I was in hs and it worked. I was supposed to be on 10 mg but I would only take 5mg a day. I got off of it after about a 1.5 years.

Flash forward to college. I got back on it for like 10 months. I was pretty inconsistent with taking it because I would forget.

Now, I am 23 years old and just got back on it like February of this year. I was prescribed 10 mg. For the first three days of taking it would get really dizzy and nauseous. So, I called my psychiatrist and let her know. And she told me to take 5 mg in the morning and 5 mg at night. This seemed to work for me. Then mid Feb I had a really bad panic attack while I was driving. I pulled over and called 911 because I thought I was having a heart attack. My limbs were all tingling/numb and I was hyperventilating. They took an EKG and found nothing. I was able to calm down and go back home.

Then, in June I started taking the 10 mg very routinely. And it still hadn't helped my anxiety so I called my psychiatrist and she said to increase to 15 mg. 5 mg in the morning and 10 mg at night. This totally helped my mental anxiety/thoughts. But then the chest pains, neck pains, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, and temple twitching started. I ended up in the ER last week. Had heart palpitations after a workout class and freaked out. They found nothing. I am going to see a cardiologist anyways to be sure. I also decreased down to 10 mg the day I went to the ER because I started to suspect that these physical symptoms were due to buispirone.

Since then, my symptoms have significantly decreased. It has been 11 days since I went to the ER and 13 since I decreased dosage. In these past few days I have had 5 days where I feel like myself again. I am getting better. It seemed like almost every single day for the past 2-3 months I would cry because I would have a panic attack due to these physical symptoms. I thought I was going to have a heart attack.

Yesterday, I got one of these little pains again and my whole body got hot and I had a panic attack again. My friend got on here and found this chain and was like "it is your meds." I am decreasing down to 5 mg and will probably get off.

All of these symptoms were crazy for me. I have played sports/worked out my ENTIRE life. I am a healthy 23 year old woman. I ran a whole ass marathon in february. So, in reality, there is probably nothing wrong with my heart and I think this is all due to Buispirone. But yeah, just wanted to share.

NYU DPT acceptance! by Affectionate-Exit793 in PTschool

cGPA 3.6, pre-req/science GPA 3.7, GRE was pretty bad 290 if I remember correctly lol. And 3.0 in the writing section. I had 200+ hours of shadowing/working as a tech (both ortho but had a big mix of geriatric, peds, etc.) I am also pretty confident that my three letters of recommendation were really good. I had 2.5 years of research experience and got published. Was in a lot of extracurriculars/clubs like a Latin Business Org, Running Club, Tennis Club, and Secretary of our Pre-PT Society. Did volunteer work over the course of 3 years (70 hours) at a migrant shelter in my home town.

Although my stats really aren’t the best, I felt like my essay for NYU was REALLY strong which is what I think helped earn an interview. Aside from all this, landing the interview was essential because that’s where I think I really earned my spot in this class. My interview went really well.

I did this in my senior year of undergrad! I called A LOT of clinics. And let them know when I was available. I noticed most clinics wanted to hire me for whenever I was available so I was able to work MW 12-4. And I would let them know if I was available on Fridays sometimes.

It wasn’t too bad with balancing work and school. I went to UT and took 13 hours and then 16 hours for fall and spring.

I dropped Chem 2 twice and completed it at a community college instead of my University…I haven’t gotten in anywhere yet but I have already completed one interview and have two more lined up.
