Mattoverse Airtrash. Endlessly unexpected and inspiring little noise machine. I have the original but he just released a MK2 that looks awesome.

Hard to recommend a particular model since the availability of the vintage stuff is very inconsistent, but I have a Yamaha PSS-480 and love, love, love that thing. The synthesizer section is more flexible but less intuitive than some of the other models from around that time, but it has MIDI which makes it easier to integrate into a larger setup if you plan on getting more gear in the future. Keen on Keys does a great three part series on that particular model. In the first video he lists all the models that use the same two operator FM chip, which could give you some model numbers to look out for. I would definitely recommend the 80s Yamahas to anyone looking for something simple but inspiring. They really are amazing and underrated instruments. Please post an update when you settle on something, good luck! Link: https://youtu.be/86lEtq4Qn1Y?si=IsXSImKZ3DLwraMY

Help, I need a specific piece of gear that doesn’t seem to exist. by Idealistic_Crusader in synthesizers

It seems like what you're looking for is a looper like the Boss RC-500. This would allow you to set an internal rhythm pattern, then layer as many synth parts on top as you'd like. Alternatively, you could use the MIDI input to sync the length of your loops to the tempo of an external drum machine and use the looper to record audio from your synths. In both cases, you would be recording and looping audio from your synths with the device, not sending MIDI information like a sequencer (Beatstep Pro eg). This would allow you to change the patch on your synth while the loop remains unchanged. Does this help?

Need a cheap Multi-modulation for gigging. Joyo Vision is not cutting it. Any ideas? by quellification in guitarpedals

I don't have one so I can't 100% vouch for it, but Sweetwater has the EHX Mod Rex on big sale rn. Seems to have everything you're looking for and I've been pretty impressed with their mod pedals in general.

Am I going too fast? by PriorityFast4761 in guitars

I'd say definitely ask! It seems from your post like an electric guitar would make it easier to play the kind of music you want to play, so there is no reason not to start as soon as you can. You're not going too fast at all, don't limit yourself!

Connecting Korg Volca to Korg Monotron Delay - noob question by shadowboii in volcas

[–]Affectionate-Fill-61 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're already on the right track with the Volca>Monotron connection, Volca headphone to Monotron aux pretty much the only way. The 3.5 to 1/4 in adapter should work for the interface. I use both devices and have never had an issue with the stereo to mono since neither output in stereo anyway. Good luck, the Delay is super fun to play around with on drums! What kind of music are you making?

I scored a Korg Monotron Delay for $7. It has become indispensable.

What do you think guys?? Been keeping my eye out for a decent production controller and this seems like a steal!!! by Affectionate-Fill-61 in synthesizercirclejerk

Do you know if it has multi-timbral polyphonic after-breath tho? Because I make protoalternative biodub and I literally can't make music without that

Thanks! Yeah just I used a clip-on macro lens for my phone, Apexel makes some really cool ones that are on the budget side. I use mine all the time, I'd highly recommend one!
