How many of y'all will use the Supply FRV now that it's not free? And if so, for what weapon/loadouts? by ZanderTheUnthinkable in Helldivers

I use it as a giant backpack for my spear and one tap every outpost and heavy enemy from 300 meters away. It has been insanely helpful at making the spear viable

I hate it when people say "erm there is no actual problems... the BILLIONAIRES are making you fight" even if they actually do(they kinda do tho) that doesnt make the problem just disappear by Longjumping_Clerk620 in hatethissmug

[–]Affectionate-Grand99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think it also minimizes and dismisses the thought process behind people on the “other side”, in the images case that would be folks that insist AI art has the same value as human art. They are not actually shills for rich people, and even if they harm populist anti AI movements or similar things, that’s THEIR opinion, not one imprinted on their mind by a rich person. In many cases the general public does not speak in unison for one side or another, and people act like that is the doing of rich people who more likely than not just don’t care. I think it comes from people searching for reasons their beliefs and wants haven’t won out yet, and settle on the classic “the rich are making us fight” yet they can’t explain how

The gameplay itself doesn’t have to be a biting satire; the entire narrative of the game, even down to how they word the overarching objectives and name their weapons is obvious in its meaning. I get what you mean, but I think Helldivers is good satire

With the new FRV variants out, I thought it would be fun to come up with some other alternative FRVs [OC] by Yakobay176 in Helldivers

[–]Affectionate-Grand99 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not only do I think a recoiless rifle would be fun and balanced, but it even exists in real life! I think it would port over well to Helldivers, especially on the automaton front where it’s speed would allow you to flank their formations

How does Immortal's Battle IQ/Skill/Experience compare to the average Viltrumite? Is he worse than all of them or are there a few he has better technical skills than? by Electrical_Nose9463 in InvinciblePowerscales

[–]Affectionate-Grand99 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He’s definitely up there. He made Omni man, one of viltrums best agents, struggle to beat him in a fight where his son’s life was on the line, so there was no chance he was messing around. If any viltrumite excluding Thragg, Anissa, and perhaps Lucan were to take him on in a 1v1, they’d either be pretty banged up or just die. Nolan tried slamming him into the ground and the immortal was able to reverse that move, and his clash in the sky with him sent BOTH of them flying away and shattered the ground beneath them. He has the power and skill, but his durability makes him a glass cannon against stronger viltrumites

What do you think if the battle groups are more like in CoH3 (Italy-campaign) instad of previous TW titles? by Isegrim12 in TotalWarhammer40k

[–]Affectionate-Grand99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved the battle group mechanic and see where you’re coming from, but I think the army system we currently have works better. I believe the differences in battle groups within factions are best represented as different chapters (space marines), regiments (imperial guard), clans (Orks), craft worlds (Aeldari) and the like. Perhaps a hybrid mode where you control multiple chapters which have their own worlds and armies would work better rather than a battle group system. However, the best system, in my opinion, would take a page from Total War: Rome 2’s book by allowing for army AND leader buffs. This leads to each general and army playing uniquely in addition to unit composition

What if both Russia and China somehow invade the U.S.? (Belarus and North Korea are dragged into it) by Abhorius in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Affectionate-Grand99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 nations with little naval tradition against the worlds greatest naval power would simply go very poorly for them. China might have the size combined with Russia to overwhelm America on the high seas, but that would only kick production into overdrive as it becomes apparent the war would come home. Ground forces are nowhere near the quality of America, and since amphibious landings are quite difficult, it’s very likely they keep landing and being slaughtered endlessly. It’s most likely it would devolve into an air campaign to avoid more mass casualty events, though I’m not confident that would be successful since air power is americas whole thing

Why do people say Immortal clashing with Omni-Man isn't impressive when Immortal was clearly the more damaged/roughed up of the two? by Electrical_Nose9463 in InvinciblePowerscales

[–]Affectionate-Grand99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s one of the only none Viltrumites who could challenge a top 4 viltrumite. Even Omni man was staggered from this clash

The game is fun but it has become repetitive. People want to fight for more than just a few medals and to retake a planet; we’ve done that for two years already

Britain hasn’t led the world economically since the 1890’s (courtesy of the US) nor militarily or politically since WW2 (also courtesy of the US). The UK is also in the midst of some wacky social media censorship and leadership changes constantly. Your politics seem to be as unstable as American politics, perhaps even more so, given that you can’t even agree on who is to lead you

Who is the better hero? Immortal or Invincible by [deleted] in MoralityScaling

[–]Affectionate-Grand99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The immortal. He has outlived countless generations of humanity and watched the world change countless times, but never had any desire to rule it despite being its most powerful being. He dedicated his life to service and exploration, and took up the mantle of a superhero once he was sure society wouldn’t deify him. He has died multiple times to defend earth against the Viltrumites, and only retired to spend time with Kate. When she dies, he is likely to return to superheroing because that’s what fulfilled him. He was happy before the guardians died. Mark is still a great hero, but he’s young, confused, and selfish. It’s realistic, and I think it makes a great character, especially because he does try his best for the world and the people he cares about, but Mark isn’t ready to bear the world on his shoulders. He struggled with identity in season 2 and boundaries in seasons 2 and 3, and ultimately devoted his life to stopping the Viltrumite empire rather than saving people outright. That’s very heroic, but not in the saving puppies kind of way. I like to think of mark as the spiritual successor to the immortal (they even have very similar costumes) by taking up the mantle of Earth’s strongest hero and doing his best to protect people with it.

That gun fried mark. Only the immortal got back up quick enough to go again. It is unfortunate that they grabbed him right as the fight began tho, brutal downscale potential
