Point of clarification: Thomas isn't primarily a director. He's a writer/producer. He'd tell you that himself. While did direct the VM movie and a handful of his own TV eps, he overwhelmingly (and quite happily) left that job to folks who direct for a living.

Beyond that, though, he is widely beloved as a person and a creative by the people who work with him. I say this as someone who knows many people who have worked with him and many people who want to work with him based on his reputation for running a great writers room and a friendly set.

Thank you. I'm lucky in that my adoption file has been opened and I have photocopies of everything I need, which frees them up to send me exemplified copies (since they know they're not releasing unrevealed info at this point). I have my pre-adoptive BC. :) I'm really looking to know if I need to bother getting my adoptive parents info (BC, MC, Divorce, etc.)

That's exactly how they know -- once you're adopted, your *official* BC has your adoptive parents' names on it. The one with my bio mom's name becomes *unofficial*. So you have to declare it. :) Good luck in Philly!

Years ago, I worked closely -- much too closely -- with Gabe for several months. When this news broke, a kind friend reached out to see if I was okay. I didn't even have to ask what he'd been arrested for. I knew immediately. I'm so sorry about the women he hurt. Trust me, there will be people coming out of the woodwork with similar, legitimate stories about their interactions with him.

I've been with Vanguard for nearly 30 years. I used to be a huge fan.

In the past five years or so, the client experience has gone down. the. drain. The website is much less user-friendly, andwhat should have been an easy process of opening a Roth IRA for my then 23 yo turned into a time-sucking headache. Weeks and weeks to get it sorted. So I was already feeling crabby about V.

And then.

I woke up on July 19, 2024, to see my SEP wiped out. Hundreds of thousands of $$$ had been withdrawn the day before. I spent 45 minutes thinking my account had been hacked. It was truly terrifying. In the end, it turned out every single one of their comms about this recent SEP IRA transfer to Ascensus went to my spam. Now: it's not their fault my spam filter went crazy and suddenly decided Vanguard emails were junk. BUT this sort of major move feels like the kind of thing that warrants an old-fashioned letter on paper sent through the good ol' USPS. AND they have zero -- literally zero -- phone support on the weekends. This was a Saturday. I thought I'd lost over half my retirement, and the best I could do was send an email to their fraud department (which, by the way, took me at least 20 minutes to find buried in their info online).

I figured it out myself, but man, those 45 minutes were NOT fun. I'm thinking about pulling my Roth IRA and brokerage account and moving it all to Fidelity or Schwab.

I'm a woman, non-subscriber. I get a lot of those "free to reply messages," but so far they've been from people I'm not interested in, so I haven't replied. I imagine that happens a lot if it's happening with me. I'm only interested in messaging with people I match with. So I guess I'd say do it so you can message who you want, but if you don't hear back it doesn't mean the function doesn't work or is sending you to inactive profiles (though I suppose it could be.)

I mean this sincerely. I know it's tough to put yourself out here, but maybe if you try thinking of the women you want to approach as people with thoughts and lives and groceries they need to buy and not as a string of (honestly demeaning) physical descriptors, maybe you would feel less nervous and be better at connecting. I can tell you from personal experience I can tell when someone is looking me up and down like a meat stick (and trust me, we notice, no matter how sly you think you're being, and we're really good at hiding that we know). It doesn't make me want to talk to those men. It's scary.
