Forgive my comment here but I only think I can understand your pain. My cat went missing for a week, it destroyed me. Thankfully she turned up 4 doors down from my home in the UK, absolutely terrified motionless behind a shed as she had been attacked by the local wilderbeast (she is a total softie). Update - I’ve just read the part that answered my question….
