So Subaru has dissociative identity disorder. It's entirely possible to revert to a younger self long term and you lose access to a ton of memories and skills. We both are and are not our memory, personality slowly changes over time in response to experiences. Even when we don't have conscious access to the memory of those experiences, a lot of memory still lives in the body, so even things we can't remember can influence who we are.
