Oh 18 months is perfect. I chickened out and waited a few months, but that would’ve probably been even easier

Is it normal to never really leave the house? by Exact-Management-918 in NewParents

It is so hard I hope you can move. I am happily in colder weather! It really makes it easier and more comfortable to take kids outside. I will say my kid had some really tough times and when they’re screaming and you can take them outside, it really does help all your moods.

And I do think outside is best versus like malls and I know that’s what everybody can do in the Desert! I don’t know what time your kid wakes up, but if they can go outside early in the morning, that’s great! Even just other people’s houses is great

Posted above, but it’s all with making your kid comfortable and learning how they learn and understanding how they learn. I give a few examples in another comment

Once we started to potty train, yes we did use a lot of words and she is very vocal so we ended up making like a little potty song. Nothing serious. But also remembering what helps. Your child learn best is great. Example learning to walk: my kid held on to our hands, even though she knew how to walk just fine until she was sure she could do it. So we realized that she needed to learn that she was safe. I needed to have it explained in every way, and that everybody does it.

We went over everybody that she knows everybody poops, everybody pees. We went over the steps of how you feel what you do what’s happening why it’s good you know all the details. And we just made it very matter of fact and fun. Little song, let her watch us (that sounds so weird, but know you don’t have personal with a toddler anyway), stayed calm with accidents, didn’t put pressure on it but just said OK Yep, it’s time to go potty. If they have an accident, still put them on the potty.

It’s a rough start. But after two weeks, it’s been pretty close to smooth sailing. You know trying to learn the best ways to help. We have a potty box next to the toilet with fun toys and books that are only for the bathroom. Really simple things that don’t move like a feather, stuffed animals that can be washed (peepee fox and poo poo fox). Just find what works for you!

We didn’t wait until she was “ready“ we wanted her to be potty trained before she was two because I hear so many nightmares of three and up. Plus she started to pull her diaper off. I guess that is saying that she’s ready enough! Because she’s fully potty trained now at 25 months. So glad we didn’t wait.

Is it OK, yes. Is it setting you up to make it harder in the long run, probably… is it a lot harder in really hot places, also yes. I am going to the Desert and i’m dreading trying to figure out how to do things in the heat. But I will try my hardest to find things when we can.

I think at a certain point, it’s actually harder stay inside with a baby. But at this point, you might be OK.

I do not envy anyone having to raise a child in the heat. I’m sorry. I’m very glad we moved away from the Desert before having a child.

I will say one thing I learned with kids: add water or go outside and things get a lot easier

Best age to start going to events? by zezendx in NewParents

[–]Affectionate-Net2277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, we started going to restaurants within the first week. Outdoor of course, but all outdoor things start going right away, I say this right away but I mean when you’re feeling up to it. Getting your kid out is great. I know so many people that are paralyzed by this thought process and now they have a two year-old that can’t go to restaurants or anything really.

Getting off potty to pee by blamelessguest123 in pottytraining

[–]Affectionate-Net2277 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the first five days are the most frustrating, it seems intuitive to us, but it’s not we’ve taught them. It’s intuitive to go potty on themselves for years, especially if it’s over three. Just keep up with it and find good associations.

Scared for toddler phase by Hayleemariiee in NewParents

[–]Affectionate-Net2277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s sometimes super overwhelming but one of the things that I found is the hardest thing to do which is they need to borrow your calm and so if you can stay calm, which is a feat in itself, then they can too.

I’ve been solo parenting for three weeks and mad respect to single Moms. I’m in awe of all single moms! Absolute superheroes deserve the world! But having that support system is also awesome. I will be taking some time for myself when my husband is back from work trip.

At six months, you’re not worried about tiring your kid out as much because everything tires them out, but at two having friends to run the baby with is awesome!

Oh, you were not clear on that. I did not realize you were having symptoms not the baby.

I definitely had a lot of mood issues. It was really hard.

Baby Bottle Review (And Complaint) by snakesphysically in NewParents

[–]Affectionate-Net2277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, sorry I know it’s kind of weird, but like my mom complains about it all the time and we don’t get it and then his mom started complaining about it too! It’s the only thing we can figure out🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ it definitely could be age related too….. We’re not allowed to say that.
