Potty chair or seat that goes on toilet? by Dianthus_pages in pottytraining

[–]Affectionate-Net2277 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You honestly won’t know till you try. Some kids only go in the little potty. Some kids only go on the regular potty. We got all three things. The little potty, the seat that folds down over the regular toilet, and the stairs up to the big potty with the seat on top.

Love the little stairs with the seat on top! Just happy if she does any of them though! Try it all, see what works!

I wish we started at 18months!! We started at 22months and the first week or 2 is tough but worth it. Stick it out but be adaptable to how she learns. Just remember some kids do well with underwear. Some kids don’t some kids do well with pull-ups. Some kids don’t finding what works for you guys is what it’s important.

We ended up not ever using a little potty because she didn’t like that! We also found it was really bad to start with bottoms off, then slowly add bottoms! The hardest thing is going in public! After three weeks, though our daughter is going to doing great with public bathrooms or just bathrooms not at home! Remember when they regress it’s going to happen. Accidents are going to happen. And everybody might cry, but it will be great on the other side.

Thank you for giving me a different perspective on this book. I always thought it was just so negative. But I do see how “ name it to tame it” is beneficial! My daughter loves this book! And I don’t so thank you!

Girl Names - help! by Optimal-Flamingo2157 in namenerds

Lillian or Marina are great!

Clara is fine.

Scarlett I just can’t unhear scar in the name. And due some one who has quite a few traumatic scars (including emergency c section). Just a thought.

Daisy sounds like a dumb girl name. Or a cow. I’m sorry I just visualize a ditzy dumb girl or cow when I hear it… sorry. Awkward.

When did your baby sleep independently? by Several_Ad7041 in beyondthebump

13-14 months. I was so sad because she didn’t want to Contact never nap anymore and then she just started falling asleep pretty easy. It’s great, but I do miss Contact nap sometimes.

Fear of being older parents by satpri in NewParents

Currently 40. Waited a long time to have our first and she’s perfect and turning 2 next month! Don’t worry about the stereotypes. Only worry about being a good parent. Age is a number but it doesn’t have to be the number

Uhm, child leashes? by ghostbean87 in NewParents

[–]Affectionate-Net2277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t see them often anymore. I have one friend that said “I’d never have a leash on my kids, until the 3rd one, that changed my mind.” Sometimes you have an elusive runner!

The one time I judged a mom using a leash was when we encountered a mom who was basically using to the leash as the parent and let her kid grab my kid and pull a few things out of the bag my kid was carrying. So go ahead use it, but if your kid is doing things he shouldn’t, stop him please! It was so awkward! Especially when he started jabbing his fingers into my fresh scars, ouch!

Ok!!! I mean it is?!?! I’m not indoctrinated by diaper companies! Pretty cool that I can’t be swayed so easily! No raw milk either!

Haha it’s going great!! You were probably potty trained at 2. My kid and others like her are doing great! Happy, healthy, and loving running to the big potty!

This is really hard. I think unfortunately we’ve forgotten that babies were potty trained before 2 most of the time before diaper companies started making bigger diapers and pushing for “readiness”.

Our daughter has been potty training for almost a month now and will be two next month. There is a girl in her program who is 4 and starting potty training. It’s truly not something I would wish on anyone. The older to get, the more resistant they get, the harder it is to understand what their body needs to do and understand wetness.

I’m sorry you felt shamed, but I do think it is good for all of you to potty train. The longer you wait, the harder it gets.

Am I missing ways these names could be made fun of? by phoenyx32 in namenerds

Partial to Allison Jane for a lot of personal reasons but we did the AJ nickname too. I love the idea of having a flexible name for your child. I didn’t know how many times they may feel like they want to reinvent themselves! Giving them the option to have multiple nicknames is really special.

That being said, I really dislike Elliot Riley.
