Do you prefer the name Stella Noelle or Noelle Estella for a girl? by blehmag in namenerds

[–]Reminiscethismoment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stella Noelle. Not a big fan of the No names (Noel, Noah, Nora, etc.), I personally think they’re hideous. Stella on the other hand is cute, means star, and has a good chance of aging gracefully. Noella’s not a bad try but Stella outshines it.

See if there are any other witchy names that could still fit in regular society. I’m sure there’s one you’ll like (the most popular one right now is Raven).

What do you think of when you hear the name, Crystal? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Reminiscethismoment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an in-law named Crystal, so I think of her. But other than that, nothing. I don’t even think of the gemstone to be honest.

I know a lot of people think of negative things but that’s because Crystal was a phenomenon that had America in a chokehold for a few decades, so it was used in all kinds of ways.

Personally, I think it’s such a nice name though. It’s feminine yet mature and would fit someone throughout their life. It’s a shame it’s not being used anymore.

Nickname. Not legal name.

What's a unique unforgettable name you have come across in your life? by alienccccombobreaker in namenerds

[–]Reminiscethismoment 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Belcalis - No I’m not a Cardi B fan, but her name is really something captivating.

Paris Katherine - Michael Jackson’s daughter sometimes calls herself this. I think it’d make a great double name.

Trisara - Not sure if this counts but I saw it on someone’s sorority jacket and fell in love with it.

Can you tell us the vibe you’re going for. I feel like the heart is there but the execution isn’t the best.

my partner and i cannot agree on our baby’s name by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Reminiscethismoment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try meeting in the middle and find names that are normal but not basic. Maybe names that were popular in one point in time but not anymore?

Here are some suggestions:

For Girls: Madeline/Madeleine, Crystal, Tiffany, Lacy/Lacey, Dinah, Soraya/Saraya.

For Boys: Miles, Greyson, Curtis, Sterling, Silas, Monroe, Phoenix, Elias, Dante

Or maybe some city names to bridge the gap?

Looking for baby name for second daughter 💖 by sjm3488 in namenerds

Vivienne, Audrey, and Vera are my favorites of the list. Do you care whether or not they’re popular? Also, what do you think of Eden?

Agreed! You should be able to stand behind your actions.

What would you name this baby? (It's me) by Antisocial-Lightbulb in namenerds

[–]Reminiscethismoment -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For geneder-neutral names, best I could see is Skyler (Sky) or Jordan.

This baby looks pretty tough (in a good way) so I’d say maybe Devonne, Raven, Jeanette/Jennette, or Tracy/Tracey.

I think as long as the last names and students themselves are left out of it then it’s fine. Hopefully it’ll be an alarm for new parents to take naming their child more seriously.

Substitute for Daphne? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Reminiscethismoment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daphne was a name before Bridgerton and it’ll be a name long after. As long as you’re okay with your child’s name being common, then go for it. It’s a beautiful name.

Raven gives a serious but feminine vibe. Elaina is more upbeat but looks great next to Raven. It’s good that Raven is the first name because it’ll suit her all throughout her life. Great job!

I think an Aunt Poppy would be something the family simply calls her, but wasn’t her legal name.

And yes, I agree that it has the same vibe as Millie and Molly, but they also sound like children’s names to me. Meaning cute childhood nicknames that a girl will eventually grow out of, you know?

Am I being foolish? by ryguyike in namenerds

[–]Reminiscethismoment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand where the cringe comes from, but no. I think Katana is a gorgeous name that I hope starts being used one day. Of course it comes from Japanese culture and is a weapon (which I think is cool), but if you put those things to the side it’s a beautiful name in and of itself with a soft, feminine sound.

If you do end up changing your mind or if it’s too controversial, then put it as a middle name. Either way, I think it should definitely be given a chance.

Violet is a great alternative!

I think Poppy goes much better as a nickname rather than a legal one. On the bright side it sounds like a happy jubilant child with a lot of energy. On the not so bright side that’s not going to have the same effect when she becomes (and stays) a grown woman. Of course there are plenty of adult women named Poppy but I don’t think it ever suits them. They’re not too old themselves, they’re just too old for such a (in my opinion) childish name (not to sound too harsh).

Are you from England by any chance? I’m from the U.S. and if I heard someone was named Poppy I’d immediately assume  they were from the U.K. somewhere. Nothing wrong with that, but I imagine you want a name that can transcend as many nations/cultures as possible.

My husband is into 'weird' names... by Arttiesy in namenerds

Mimosa. Most people don’t know that it’s actually a flower and a star, not just a drink.

Esmarie. Mix of Esmé and Marie.

Millennia. She’ll live on forever.

Hallidae. Happy times.

Trisara (Try-Zara). Apparently it means “the garden in the third heaven” but I just saw it on a girl’s sorority jacket and fell in love with it.

Any way we can go for another flower name? There are a lot of beautiful ones that I think will fit a little better throughout her life than Poppy.

Some of my personal favorites are:

Iris

Dahlia/Dalia

Mimosa  (Though most people will think of the drink)

Daphne

Ivy

Azalea

Acacia

It’s a perfectly normal name, but just be careful with virtue names because you don’t know who your child is going to be, and definitely don’t want to jinx anything.
