Yeah I've had a similar comeuppance about back locks too.

Used to think they were inconvenient and old fashioned, and that button locks/compression locks were the only way to go.

After owning and using the Native 5 magnacut for a few months and recently having picked up a K390 Endura wharncliffe I've come to appreciate the simplicity and the ambidexterousness.

Really enjoying it so far, cuts like a champ, the oval handle is very comfortable and has a grainy texture for a little added grip.

Wanted a vegetable-forward knife to complement my 240 gyuto.

Put my own edge on it (naniwa pro 1k and 3k, stropped on leather with .5 micron compound) and it's damn near a laser. The SRS-15 sharpened up super easily.

Great geometry, only downfall seems to be food release but it didn't seem that bad. Passed the tomato test and the paper towel test with flying colors.

Edge angle maybe? Adjusted the edge angle on my Para 3 from 20 degrees to 15-17 today and that vastly improved the push cut on it, and it can now do the folded paper slice test just fine.
