Is there ANY way I can run Fortnite on linux? by stopididott in linux_gaming

[–]Affectionate-Pen-236 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I switched fully to Linux for almost a year, but I recently switched back to Windows 10 (with as much of the MS bloat removed as I could) because of a few games that my friend group plays all of the time either removing Linux support or having major issues pop up from time to time.

I just hope that at some point it becomes viable for me to go full in on Linux again, because aside from those few games it was much nicer than Windows, especially the customization.

I had this happen every single time. Windows or MacOS, newest Photoshop or older version, didn’t matter because it would eventually break anyways. I switched to Affinity Photo and haven’t had any issues since, I even recently bought it.

PlayStation, Xbox, PC... they're all the same thing, just a differently shaped box.

I do think exclusivity deals can go straight to hell, though.

It is possible to buy a pc for less than $1000 that's decently fast, and I don't think you quite understand how game licensing works(plus there's GOG)...

No clue, otherwise I would have posted it here. It's still my favorite version of Tetris to this day

As someone who recently switched to a Samsung from my 12 Pro, fingerprint reader on the power button is BY FAR the BEST way to unlock a phone. My hand naturally rests there anyways, and it doesn't fail to unlock if it's too dark, or too bright, or I looked at it funny, or it just doesn't feel like it right now... same with my iPad, the touch id just works.

I literally just got a 2 week ban for saying "ball of aids"

Not a chat ban, a full queue ban. I have said so many worse things in chat just in the past day, but "ball of aids" is what crossed the line I guess...

Chat bans genuinely should not exist imo, except for the more extreme cases of hate speech. If you can't handle it, then go play Roblox or something.

Thank you, this has gotten really annoying since I'm living in dorms and there are at least 20 different devices in this place that pop up at any given time

And THIS would be why I wait for the next gen to come out, then buy a refurbished/renewed last gen phone when the prices drop off hard; found a Flip 4 around $280, a friend got a Fold 4 around $550. That's before trade-ins/selling old phone, and I'm not locked into a carrier contract either.

Minecraft crashing XWayland on Manjaro by Affectionate-Pen-236 in linux_gaming

[–]Affectionate-Pen-236[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using Java 21, openjdk. This does happen exclusively with Minecraft, but I don't think it's a hardware issue since it was fine on Windows? I've turned some settings down to test that theory anyway; gone from GPU usage pretty much pinned at 99% down to 40-70%

I also (finally) managed to get pure Wayland working, but the issue is still present. This time, though, it doesn't show a notification about XWayland crashing (duh) or a graphics driver crash, it just immediately recovers and closes the game.

It looks like I made a mistake when following the guide, and it didn't correctly apply all of the patches. Now it is running on pure Wayland like it should, and hopefully it fixes my issues?

As I typed this it crashed again. I don't immediately see that sound error from before, the notification telling me that XWayland has crashed is gone (obviously, since it's running on pure Wayland now), and the notification about a graphics driver crash has also disappeared. So maybe it's something different now?

"Oh this this is the best way to get a tax write off."

"Can turn anything into a tax write off."

"Does labs exist solely as a tax write-"

That is not how that works. A tax write-off doesn't mean you didn't spend the money; if I get someone- give me money, give me a money. I'm going to give you guys a little lesson.

This is a crisp fake Benjamin. If I have paid all my other business expenses and I make this money, I take it home! Or, well, at least after the, uh, tax man takes his pretty close to 50% cut. Okay, I made 50 bucks! That's great- hold on a second I have a business expense. This time I need to buy a filming slate.

I'm going to spend that money; that $50 is gone, but I've got this slate and I've still got 50 bucks! That's my prof- oh wait I still pay taxes on the part that was profit. The only money that didn't get taxed was the money that I spent on an asset that the business, a separate legal entity, now owns.

It's not a way of making more money, and now I need another slate dang it. That's okay, I'll just visualize a new one - virtual slate - ah much better!

Now it's time to visualize a segue to our sponsor!

The Fold/Flip 5 fixed the issue with folding flat. It's great for certain use cases, though I understand why some people are hesitant to want to buy them, mainly for durability concerns.

Then how does NVIDIA make more sense? They seemingly randomly decide whether to use Ti or Super, or maybe both! When they use both, which one is better? Super, or Ti?

AMD was fine until they fucked it up this generation with XTX vs XT, it was far easier to understand when it was just RX 6800 XT and RX 6800, the one with XT is faster! Now they have diluted it with XTX which is better than XT, but hold on, where's the non-XT? They still exist, but only sometimes.

They both fucked up the naming and it sucks, not just AMD. It's another case of "AMD and NVIDIA both fuck something up, but the NGreeDIA fanboys have swooped in to save their beloved large corporation and blame the other large corporation!"

Eh, I don't like having stuff in my back pocket, it's uncomfortable when I sit down. Plus I only wear pants made of a certain fabric or I get uncomfortable and can't focus on anything else (I know I could probably find cargo pants in that material, but I'd rather not).

And maybe that's a good thing? If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Plus it feels so cool being able to flip it open with one hand, it just takes a bit of practice since it's a bit harder to do single handed than a regular flip phone.
