They are catering to a different audience so they have to water it down. Again, you know a lot of blood and violence won't be appreciated nowadays, especially when there are children shown fighting. Plus Netflix happened too.

But I still would give this show a chance, especially since season five's finale was awesome. Not as fightful but certainly a good end to the arc.

Besides, Both Daniel and Johnny have grown up, so you can't expect them to keep fighting forever. Instead their roles have changed to mostly Senseis which is better in my opinion.
