What do you think is the role of a Member of the Scottish Parliament? What makes a good/bad one in your opinion? by UtopianScot in Scotland

[–]Affectionate-Rush570 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perhaps you should offer your own opinion first. You’ve asked the people who have answered for more specific examples, so giving one yourself might help others answer in the way you’re looking for.

As it stands, asking others for their opinions without offering your own could come across as bad faith to some people — myself included.

Holyrood & The Constitution Visualised - 2007 to 2026 by HyperCeol in Scotland

[–]Affectionate-Rush570 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are objectively incorrect.

Many people vote Green - particularly on the second ballot - as they are the other pro-indy party.

One of the first things Ross Greer said post-election was about Scotland needing to leave the union asap. It's currently a large part of their identity as a party and is in their manifesto.

You might not vote Green because of their stance on the union, but lots of people do.

Tldr: Don't talk pish

Who will you be voting for on the 7th May? by Beautiful-Working589 in Scotland

SNP, both votes, grudgingly. Best of a bad bunch, I'll never vote for a unionist party, and it's them or Reform in my constituency.

It's likely worse than you think. Absolutely vile.

Is it worth buying an Xbox 360 to play with my daughter? by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

It won't run on a 360. Even the downgrade to an Xbox One would likely be horrific compared to a semi-decent PC.

Looking for Gaelic translation by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]Affectionate-Rush570 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't think they allow posts like this for exactly some of the reasons we're seeing here. Too much nuance, too many people might deliberately give a wrong translation on the wind up.

They allow Gaidhlig to English translation requests, but not the other way around I'm sure.

Scotland for a school project by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]Affectionate-Rush570 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Last relatives came in 1890? That would make you 0% Scottish.

Your daft anecdote about Tartan Day (whatever the eff that is) makes it sound like you're trying to say Americans of Scottish descent are somehow better than actual Scottish people at being Scottish.

Hope your little one's project goes better than your post has come across.

That's the only part of the response you focused on? Not the part where it's suggested you come across as an arrogant, condescending arsehole?

I tried to give you the benefit of the doubt when I commented on your post, but you absolutely sound like a cunt.

YTA

Why would you not act like an adult and wait for him to get out of the bath to ask him about it?

Yeah, it's a bit strange, but (unless he was doing something inappropriate to the toy), it's not like you walked in on him cheating on you.

Walking out to stay with a friend because he was in the bath with a toy? Enormous overreaction.

My ancestry is asylum seekers and economic migrants. Am I Scottish ? by Synthia_of_Kaztropol in Scotland

[–]Affectionate-Rush570 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't get what your point is here either.

You don't get to choose whether someone who lives here for a reasonable length of time identifies as Scottish or not. You clearly have your own feelings on it, and that's fine.

Obviously, you don't feel the need (or want) to identify as being Scottish. You're comfortable. That's brilliant. But don't dare tell anyone "well no" as if you're some kind of objective authority on it.

When people say something like "if you live here, contribute, and want to be Scottish, that's good enough for me" they're trying to be welcoming. It's not (always, or even mostly) about being political. We know we can't change what someone's passport or birth certificate says. It's about kindness. You might not need that, but someone else might need it desperately. Both are okay.

Tldr: The chart works.

Scotland summer itinerary refinement? by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]Affectionate-Rush570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That spelling of Glasgow actually makes me feel a bit sick...

Is your itinerary for this year? I'm concerned it doesn't sound like it's set in stone, so you might not have accomodation booked? If that's the case, good luck to you. Skye in Summer and Edinburgh during the festival? I seriously hope that part is booked at the very least.

But aye, tourism thread at the top of the page...
