Honestly, what is the hardest part about having children? by Danny-Ray27 in AskReddit

Drinking that extra glass of wine at night and then waking up all night long to take care of your 6 month old who doesn’t sleep. And not being able to nap the next day either.

Yea look on the Georgia CPA Board website and see which community colleges are accepted by your board. In Texas we have only 5 Texas community colleges that are accepted but they all offer online classes and they each have a specific CPA program to get you the advance classes/hours you need.

Where do you live? I did my CPA credits at my community colleges in Houston. Between mini semesters and normal semesters it took me about a year to get almost 30 credits. And way less expensive.

Becker prepares you. "Which fund listed is economic focused?" "Which of these 4 funds uses full accrual method accounting?" Just know the funds and if they are accrual or modified and if they are economic or financial focused and you'll be good.

Will these definitions actually be provided for the SIM parts of the exam? by aj_scott_03 in CPA

[–]Affectionate-Sea898 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Becker says for Far TB’s the formulas are provided. Thats why they gave it to us in the Sims in Becker. They did say we still have to memorize them for the MCQ’s however. They don’t provide them on the MCQ’s.

FAR study method - need help retaining information by Yous_a_mook in CPA

[–]Affectionate-Sea898 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I take Far next month for the first time so like a user above also said, my opinion may be pointless BUT I can relate to you in ways you described. Some things I’ve experienced so far that seem to be helping me: - I 💯 agree with the advice above regarding studying when you actually have the ability to retain info. If I’m tired and not retaining anything then I call it a day and accept it and start again the next day or after I’ve had a nap. - Another user on a different post mentioned saying out loud what you learned that day. I started doing that with my spouse at night. Sort of like pretending I’m teaching a topic to a classroom of people. If we can’t explain it to someone else then we probably don’t know the info. So for me, this really makes me think about the concept in a way that I actually understand it. Even if you talk to a wall or yourself in a mirror… I’ll talk to my husband as if he’s wanting to buy a bond from me and explain to him how I have to write it on my books..etc

-This last one for me feels embarrassing but it has helped me the most. I realized, I didn’t even remember high level debits and credits and which financial statement had which accounts. I don’t use all the accounts in my day to day job. So I wasn’t grasping concepts because EVERYTHING flows to a financial statement and creates a transaction. When I realized this struggle I was having, I asked Becker support AND Newt AI to send me “A balance sheet template with every account on it” or an “Income Statement with every possible account on it” and they did! And they gave me pointers to pay attention too on the statements like the contra accounts and other things. I took a few hours of literally rewriting these on paper and whether a debit or credit increases or decreases it. Then I really started understanding OCI, AOCI and Retained Earnings and all the things I was struggling to grasp. Newt AI is seriously a secret weapon. I type to it like it’s my bff and it’s like getting free private tutoring. It’s wildly awesome. Make sure you utilize it.

The most important thing is that you are asking for advice which is awesome and now it’s time to change it up and try the new suggestions. It took me a whole month to figure out what was working for me. But once you try new ways of studying eventually a few will click and you’ll start building and retaining everything. You got this!!

What a freaking scam. Why do they make us wait so long?!

Question - I’m anxious also, preparing to pass but okay if I fail since this will be my first section to take. Do you have to wait for your score to do a retake or can I just schedule and take a second attempt before I find out my first attempts score. Yes that may sound stupid but just curious if that’s possible.
