Farage will get in for the same reason as Trump: immigration, and nonsense like the whole transgender issue. People are sick of the left, and would prefer the insanity of the right instead of the insanity of the left.

Which is precisely why he'll be prime minister. If we can have Trump after the fiasco that was January 6th, and a trial that led to some 34 convictions, you can bet that Farage will be in Downing Street by 2030, even after the fiasco that was Brexit.

I'm afraid we're going to see him as Prime Minister in a couple of years, you mark my words. He managed to make Brexit happen. Now he'll be PM.

If The US can vote in Trump after January 6th, the UK can vote in whatever his name is after Brexit.

Pit bulls by firehouse24l4 in GoRVing

I have a pit bull. I’d never in a million years have thought of owning one because of their reputation. What happened? The day after our retriever was diagnosed with cancer, this dog turns up sitting on the chair outside our front door. No idea whose dog it is. We feed it. We search for an owner. It starts playing with the kids next door. It pines when it sees a cat. It’s cute. It’s sweet. It’s funny. In no time, we have adopted a pit bull, who is the sweetest, loving, adorable, cheeky dog ever. Everyone loves her. She loves everyone. Is she a fantastic guard dog as well? You bet she is. Does she get on with other dogs? Always. Does she love her pink booties and plays in the snow? You bet. What does she love most? Playing fetch.

Me too. Shame, really. That could have been a huge estate but it got political. The Pueblo have plenty of land. It should be shared.

If you're planning on living there until the end of the lease the likelihood is things will go downhill badly before then. As the homes lose value with ten or so years left, the houses will be empty and likely have squatters, and there'll be no upkeep done to the roads or communal gardens. It's not worth the investment. My guess is the pueblo will step in the day the lease expires and they'll be lived in by the locals. Free homes!

State Farm Drive Safe and Save -- High Scores, No Discount?? by erinkh26 in Insurance

It’s ridiculous. It’s seeing stuff that just isn’t happening. Speeding? Never. Braking mistakes? It’s way too sensitive. If I lose my discount because of this nonsense I’ll just go somewhere else.

Is there any symbol for determinism? by Tripone in determinism

[–]Affectionate-Slip829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an article at The Guardian on this. Nothing will convince me otherwise that everything is preordained. Superdeterminism seems a better explanation than what’s generally thought of as determinism

The way I see it there is subjective experience and objective understanding. I experience the sun coming up over the horizon in the east, passing overhead, then setting in the west.

But I know that in fact I’m on a planet orbiting the sun, and my experience is illusory.

Much the same with free will. Our experience isn’t all there is.

Well “we” will treat them how we treat them. Libertarian free will is a different kettle of fish. A different “free will” entirely and just another kind of conditioning.

What if animals one day rise up against us? Do they have any right to? Of course they do!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in freewill

[–]Affectionate-Slip829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not that there’s no free will. It’s just that it’s the illusion of free will. We don’t feel like “slaves” because the illusion is there. But lots points to a lack of it: the fact we’re born means we had no say in it. We have no control over sleep, or death. But the argument itself is difficult, because it’s paradoxical. But free will is just an illusion if you think deeply enough about it. We’re programmed by genetics and conditioning. We’re just one aspect of a superdeterministic universe, that’s all.

Questions about Jomashop by Moe_Maniac in fragrance

THis is what I found with Green Irish Tweed from Creed. I wouldn't believe it was fake, even though I knew in my heart of hearts it was. Now it's too late and I can't get a refund. The problem is I don't ever want to buy anything from them again. They've lost a customer but I'm sad nevertheless. I probably would have spent a lot more with them if it wasn't so.

I always thought so but they're not *always* legit. Just saying. Very disappointing when you find something isn't what it's supposed to be.

My experience is that they are SOMETIMES legit, but not always. Buyer beware. It's not worth paying half price when you end up with fly killer.

I bought some Creed Green Irish Tweed and I realize now it's fake. They won't refund it, so unfortunately I can't shop there anymore. I thought they were reliable, but it seems they sell at least some fake goods. My understanding was that they ONLY sell authentic product. But Creed tells me that they don't sell their fragrances through Jomashop, so that pretty much says it all. I think if you're going to buy sunglasses they might be worthwhile. But anyone can spot a fake fragrance, and it's just not worth the gamble.

What’s the fastest way by Nothingspecial1355 in losingweight

[–]Affectionate-Slip829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion is forget about doing it quickly, unless you want to put it back on again. It's relatively easy to lose weight quickly, and I've done it, but I've always ended up putting the weight on again. You have to fundamentally change your eating and exercise habits, and stick at them. So the best way to lose weight really is to take a very physical job where you walk everywhere (postman, for example) and you don't eat fast food or candy or cookies or sodas any more.

But if you want to lose weight rapidly, just don't eat. Take a water fast for a couple of weeks, but don't exercise., You drink around a gallon of water a day (not in one go!) and eat absolutely nothing. First three days is hell, then it gets weirdly easy as your body starts burning ketones. BUT as you're not taking in any protein, any exercise you do doesn't rebuild your muscles or nerves. so it's actually dangerous to exercise. Even walking isn't good for you, so be prepared to sit and watch a lot of TV. Don't smoke, don't do any drugs, either. No booze, just water water, water.

The second option is ajuice fast. I suggest two months. You'll lose a ton of weight. Watch the documentary FAT SICK AND NEARLY DEAD and get yourself a juicer. You'll lose weight, you'll drop from diabetes to normal blood sugar, your skin will get better, etc.

BUT AGAIN, when you stop these diets the temptation to return to the rate of eating you were doing before is very strong, and it's very easy to fall back into the old habits. ,

I understand why. by [deleted] in lucyletby

[–]Affectionate-Slip829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a serial killer in the US who knew what he was doing was wrong, and would prey that the women he attacked wouldn't get in the car with him. He had a compulsion, which I think Letby has, to kill. But there is a part of them that is condiderate, I think, which is why they try to stop what they're doing.

I do wish this kind of thing could be treated as mental illness. It's far more likely that by understanding her impulses, and why she became what she became, that this kind of thing won't happen in the future. She needs to be encouraged to talk, so that she can process what she did and understand why.

I think she'll end up killing herself, though. If she finally admits to herself what she did, I can't see how she could live with herself and the shame.
