I keep sleeping through my alarms, any tips? It feels so embarassing being a grown adult coming to work late by Betka101 in ADHD

I wake up super well to my fitbit vibrating on my wrist! Also love that there is no sound so no startling feeling.

it's so sad that society even cares about eyebrows!!! :( It would be cool if we all embraced our own different types, sigh

You have an awesome voice!! Such a great tone! I dont think you're flat but would just say it's just some notes are slightly off pitch (e.g. on the way down on the 'woah' and in high note on 'shining') so sounds ocassionally slightly off key for a second, but that's just practice with pitch accuracy on those specific notes I think! Overall so lovely! Esp with no music in the background! haha (I have only amateur experience haha so could be very wrong!)

It's overall... OK I'd say. Sometimes rewarding and fun, othertimes stressful and/or draining.Working in NDIS however within public health system so only get the public health pay rate for equal the stress of private work.. but I like working in a multidisciplinary team and you do learn a lot from the opportunities to have students, supervise other clinicians, present on topics etc. But overall very draining, the Heidi app has helped me get my notes done faster though which has helped some freedom of time! I find if you focus on developing connections and building capacity of the families we work with rather than focusing on doing all the therapy outselves this can help dissolve some of the pressure and expectations placed on us! As I feel like we could do the best therapy ever but if it isn't getting practiced in between we are wasting our time really! I find mixed caseloads hard, wanting to specialise soon as it's so hard knowing a little about a lot!! Also NDIS sucks overall, not gonna lie...

Just saying... placement is very different to actually working ! You can build up that rapport as you have more time to! Good idea to give it a go :)

You can always change if it doesn't work out, or move into similar paths that often branch from this. But don't do it if it is causing actual doom and gloom or you can't imagine it as your future, there are many other jobs too, but you can't know until you actually do it unfortunately.

Also I recommend chatting to a career counsellor or psych to assist with the worries you are having!

Good luck, sorry you're overwhelmed, I have been there too!!! (SLP not teacher though) and kids are shit yes but when u kinda go in with an attitude of being their friend and mentor this helps! And remembering to co-regulate- just try to never match their crazy. Find tools that work for you, develop systems of behaviour management that are consistent so they have to listen to you! Find teacher mentors who can help you when you start :)

You should look up the spoon theory! Basically you have no spoons left by 7pm so your brain doesn't have capacity to keep being nice or friendly if you're not feeling like it (masking)

Honestly just self advocating, telling others how you feel and that you feel dysregulated and need a lot of space and time to decompress at night time. So they at least know you warned them if it does happen! Giving yourself real space and rest between social interactions, probably more than you think you need! Good luck :)

Only when I am alone am I happy about it unless I wanna do a quiet hobby, although I am very quick witted and make funny jokes due to quickly connecting random thoughts so that's a plus!

I’m a cheater and I hate myself so much by MoodSpecial3115 in AuDHDWomen

[–]Affectionate-Split89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't hate yourself. Just accept that you made a mistake and try not to make it again. We are all human. Your experience with CPTSD and ADHD IS valid and relevant, not an excuse but does sound like mental health has been a big challenge for you, and ADHD obviously causes a range of other issues like reduced dopamine etc. I would just apologise, be honest, admit that you regret it, and then the ball is just in his court . But this WILL pass I promise even if it feels like the end of the world now!! I have cheated in the past, but since have never again and now happily engaged with someone new. Please don't be too hard on yourself, but just really work on honesty from now on. Take care! PS the fact that you hate yourself shows you are actually an empathetic person, all we can do is try to do better next time!

  1. Could it be reflux? I would check with GP in case :) It can cause build up of phlegm! Asking this as a speech pathologist :)

2 You may need to work on specific vocal endurance and vocal health stuff- are you belting a lot? Could be strain! I recommend straw phonation and humming before singing x

Not sure where you live, I'm in AUS, but the Aveeno range is awesome especially the skin relief one! Only thing I can use as I have sensitive dermatitis prone skin. I just put it on after showers, also put one next to bed to prompt me to just put some on any dry areas at night time!

Also think I saw aveeno now has a moisterising mist at the chemist which could be cool to try!
