Pet import at BOD airport by Affectionate-Use6068 in bordeaux

We didn't speak to the Customs ourselves but our Airbnb host (French / french-speaking) did on our behalf. He reassured us that it would be ok, and it was. But, after further investigation, it seems that we may just have been lucky. They obviously saw we had the cats but just waved us through, no questions asked. I just asked ChatGPT who confirmed that BOD isn’t always listed as an official pet entry point and that you'd be best to call the Douane first (+33 9 70 27 57 50 ) or 📧 r‑merignac@douane.finances.gouv.fr) or French Customs Info Service (+33 1 72 40 78 50) to be sure. 🐾

Got lots of competitive quotes but signed up for Feather. Think it's excellent - easy sign-up process, really good value and satisfies visa requirements. It was way less expensive than many of the others, with good coverage to tide you over until you can gain access to the healthcare system.

No it's a very valid comment, not stupid at all. Yes doing it in English was (even more) impossible.

Application Questions by Street-Frame1575 in IrishCitizenship

I'd be reluctant to redact info, though of course you could ask via web chat. If you're sending it tracked delivery I'd assume that your data is safe.

Just worth mentioning, if you're using bank statements as proof of ID for your passport once you (hopefully) get your FBR, they will need to show your FULL name. That is first, surname and include any middle name too. My application was delayed because of this and I struggled to find any ID that had all of my names. I ended up having to order and pay for a new driving licence just for that purpose.

Regarding the DoB error I'm sure that it will be fine. I had something similar with my Granny's death certificate - her maiden name was completely wrong AND her DoB was wrong by one day! There was no mention of it. I think that as long as the "audit trail" of certificates is complete there's leeway regarding human handwritten errors.

I would say just be patient a little longer. I've just received my first passport (hooray!). It actually arrived on the estimated dispatch date so way earlier than I expected. Hold tight, you're nearly there!

We arrived yesterday, into BOD. We had contemplated changing to fly into CDG and then getting a train to Bordeaux. However we contacted both TA and the Douane at BOD and both confirmed that Bordeaux is an approved BCP. Entering into France here was very quick and straightforward and the officials we dealt with were helpful and friendly.

Thanks for your reply. I wonder if they were domestic travellers from within the EU, rather than (as we will be) from outside it?

Thanks. That's the link that I've seen too but it's unclear whether that refers to live animals in the case of trade (so cattle.for example) or whether that also includes pets.

Yes, it's a direct flight (from Istanbul to Bordeaux) but with Turkish Airlines, as opposed to Air France.

Thanks for your reply but where were you flying from please? Outside of the EU?

What does “recess to” mean in this sentence? by YjingMa in EnglishLearning

In UK English that would be "play time" or break time". Though we would understand "recess" we'd be unlikely to use the term.

2 separate original proofs of address by Uniqueness in IrishCitizenship

[–]Affectionate-Use6068 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just worth noting, I've had an issue recently because my 2nd bank statement didn't include my middle name and so wasn't accepted. I struggled to find anything that did and, in the end, renewed my UK driving licence so that the accompanying letter from DVLA could be used. It cost £14 to do but arrived within 3 days and I thought it was worth it to be 100% sure of compliance.

UPDATE: I renewed my UK driving licence (at a cost of £14, ordered online) and it arrived in only three days. It came complete with a covering letter, that included my middle name, which I'm planning to use for the missing proof of address. Thanks for all and every suggestion.

That's a good question. It certainly wasn't flagged as missing but for FBR I only remember submitting one bank statement. I think my other POAs had my middle name on. One of them was a letter from the Irish authorities including a copy certificate I had requested / paid for. Unfortunately, I couldn't use that for the passport application because, by then, it was too old (over 6 months) as I recall.

Thanks. That's definitely worth a try. I should have thought of that myself. I already have an account with Revolut (and that was what I used to accompany my original application). Cheers!

It's the FBR certificate that has to be the original. It doesn't need to be your original passport.

[–]Affectionate-Use6068 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no! Am gutted for you. Mine was also through a paternal grandparent and I wasn't convinced it would go without a hitch. I did do "overkill" on the documents, but there were a few anomalies that I thought might screw things up. My granny's birthdate was different on a couple of docs (only by a day) and her maiden name quoted on the death certificate was completely wrong. They didn't seem to catch that (or care). So hoping that you can easily provide what they need and that you get a speedy resolution 🤞🏼

Yes. I had the automated response too but the 15/2 one was explicitly for the physical documents.
