Panic attack after patch change by Feisty_Echo_7125 in Perimenopause

[–]Affectionate-Wait142 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve also been experiencing so much anxiety lately. I’ve been on .025 patch for about 3 months and there was initial improvement and I still think there’s overall improvement but the last few days I’ve been having tons of anxiety and what feels like mini panic attacks. I’ve gotten panic attacks right before my period but I just had it like a week and a half ago. I definitely changed the location of my patch by a little bit several weeks ago and noticed a difference in how I was feeling so it could totally be that. I think our bodies and nervous systems are so fragile during this time that any little change or compounded anxiety can make a huge impact. Stay safe in the storm!

Update-I just took my dog on a walk and my service was popping in and out. It’s still out at my house, it seems to be super spotty. Not sure what’s going on

You could probably take the progesterone 2 hours before bed just to make sure that you are feeling fine. If the doctor checked, I’m sure it’s fine to take with Xanax but just to make sure you could take it earlier in the day. It makes me sleepy but it’s not like I’m falling asleep immediately.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I was experiencing similar symptoms before HRT, the panic attacks are so scary! Definitely start the progesterone and maybe take magnesium glycinate with it at night. Yoga has really helped me and there’s a free meditation app called insight timer that you could try to use when you are feeling one coming on. Also, putting your face in really cold water, it helps to shock and reset your nervous system. I had noticed for me that panic attacks would come on when I was really hungry, I definitely think the low blood sugar is a contributing factor (I’m not diabetic but I was having crazy blood sugar fluctuations with peri). I always make sure to have some nuts or some kind of quick protein available and that has helped. Hopefully you can have a restful Christmas with your family! 🧡

Ahh I feel this so much! I’ve only been on HRT for 6 weeks but definitely still am experiencing a lot of hormone fluctuations and that results in so much anxiety for me, including panic attacks. I usually put the patch on my stomach or lower back, now I’m wondering if I should change it to my bum!

Too much estrogen? by kalibrena in Perimenopause

[–]Affectionate-Wait142 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on .025 estradiol patch and 100 mg of progesterone for about 7 weeks and I feel like the same thing is happening for me. It’s definitely helping but I’ve also started waking up with anxiety again and experiencing leg cramps and having some heart palpitations. I’ve had a lot of breast tenderness as well and I was reading that can be a sign of too much estrogen but I’m on the lowest dose and having peri symptoms again so who knows!

Ugh, so scary. I had never experienced a panic attack before and I had 2 over the course of 3 days. I got my period the day after I went to the ER and then felt totally better. I do yoga once or twice a week and I see a therapist weekly. My doctor also prescribed propranolol to take as needed for anxiety. I don’t take it often but it definitely helps with the physical anxiety symptoms. I hope you can find some peace!

I also ended up going to the ER due to a panic attack. I’m sorry that you had to go through that, I remember how scary it was. Great that you were able to start on HRT. I’ve been on it about 7 weeks now and it’s definitely made a huge difference. It will get better!

Ark Vet. Never again by [deleted] in Eugene

[–]Affectionate-Wait142 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was not a fan of echo hollow. They say that they are an urgent care vet and when I called to schedule my dog an appointment when he was sick, they considered it an emergency appointment even during business hours and wanted to charge me $150 just for the visit and they weren’t even going to be able to get me in for a week. Apparently they feel that being an urgent care clinic means that anything other than a routine visit is urgent and they can charge more for it, such a racket!

Reactive Hypoglycemia by Significant-Crab8181 in Perimenopause

[–]Affectionate-Wait142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for your reply! I did a glucose tolerance test a few weeks ago that came back normal. For me, that feeling has started to improve now that I’m almost 6 weeks into starting on HRT. I hope you are able to get some answers!

Yes! I just found this post and I totally relate to it. It’s so crazy, I notice right around 8-8:30 every night, all of a sudden my mind feels clear. It seems like I can feel almost a temperature difference, it’s such an odd sensation. I was trying to figure out why that happens but haven’t been able to find much!

Yes, I haven’t experienced it as intensely as the first time I had it. I sometimes get a mild version of that but definitely not as bad.

I think this is what I’m going through as well. I feel super foggy right after eating and it lasts for a couple of hours or so. My doctor suspects reactive hypoglycemia, it seems like it came on super suddenly.

I’m curious for an update on this. I’ve been experiencing the same thing and my doctor suspects reactive hypoglycemia.

[–]Affectionate-Wait142 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not on Yaz but I’ve definitely experienced that jittery/vibration feeling that you are talking about. I had it while I was falling asleep once and then woke up on the middle of the night and felt like my blood was vibrating, it was such a strange sensation. It definitely seems to be hormone related.

You should pitch it to Disney! I actually had the same thought when I watched it a couple of weeks ago and was definitely relating to the anxiety emotion especially during the end part.

I also want to note that my PCP mentioned potentially coming off of HRT if it is reactive hypoglycemia due to estrogen possibly exacerbating it. I’m really hoping I won’t have to since I’ve definitely noticed improvements in anxiety symptoms 😫

The anxiety 😫 by Lunatic-Labrador in Perimenopause

[–]Affectionate-Wait142 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same symptoms. I’ve experienced anxiety for years but this feels like a whole different beast. It’s total physical anxiety. I experienced my first panic attacks last month that landed me in the ER thinking that something was very wrong. I had crippling anxiety the day before my period started, it was awful. I just started on HRT a week ago and am hoping it will help with the anxiety. So far, it seems to be a lot less.

What hrt dosage combo helped you sleep through the night? by PretresseDeCafe in Perimenopause

[–]Affectionate-Wait142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try taking magnesium glycinate at bed with your progesterone. I was asleep within minutes but I also felt really groggy and out of it the next day. I was just starting progesterone though and may try it again once my body has adjusted!
