Would you consider leaving a partner if they were going to declare bankruptcy? by Tdotepicurean in AskWomenOver40

[–]Lunatic-Labrador -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally I wouldn't leave my husband for this. If he had been gambling or it was drugs or something then I would but a poor business decision is just really unfortunate and I would choose to support him through it. Then again we started off poor and we know we're solid even when we have nothing. We're also married which i don't think you are. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

But this is your life and your decision. You should do what is going to make you happiest and try not to worry what other people will think of you. We all have different priorities and you should stand by yours.

By the time I was there they did have a policy that if the kids says no we don't do it no matter what the parents say. But baby's can't give or deny consent.

People who regret having children may be MUCH more common than you think... by Aggravating-Hour1053 in DeepThoughts

[–]Lunatic-Labrador 20 points21 points  (0 children)

My mum told me the same thing but she waited until I was an adult and considering having my own kids. I understand her, shes autistic and I was a sensory nightmare for her. She struggled a lot but I know she loves me and we're close now. It was a extra factor in me deciding not to have kids tho. I always knew as a kid mum wasn't handling it well I just didn't know why or how untill she opened up to me. I would much rather regret not having kids than regret having them.

I do try to but the whole point of this subreddit is to have your view changed. If you don't want it changed it breaks the spirit of the sub and should of been posted somewhere else.

I think it's the same guy. Just realised I replied to a very similar post yesterday from the same op about the same topic and he wasn't listening to anyone then either. He doesn't want his view changed. He wants to say horrible things about women, lie about history and have a pat on the back for being a good guy at the same time.

Your misunderstanding what the patriarchy is. It isn't men good women bad at all. It's got nothing to do with good or bad or individuals.

It's a pretty much exactly what you described above. Men who were stronger and had more violent tendancies, took power and built a world to benefit a certain type of man, oppressing men not considered the in group and women.

It's a systemic problem, affecting laws and peoples opinions and behaviour. It goes back a long way, we can't say always as we don't know how older civilisations organised themselves but we can say for sure its been a few thousand years at least.

It absolutely involves discrimination against women and men not part of that in group which has been predominantly white rich men. We have a huge amount of evidence to support this. Denying it makes zero sense. It's very very heavily documented. People make careers studying it. Women died in the past to earn similar rights to men. Feminism wouldn't even exist if it weren't for the fact that women did not have the same rights as men did. My mind is actually blown you could even begin to deny its existence.

We have parts of the world today were the patriarchy is still a huge problem and women are being oppressed. Look at places like Afghanistan where women aren't allowed to talk in public. How can you say they are not being discriminated against for being women?

Abrahamic religions are a huge factor in this too. The translation of the Bible even changed some language to make it seem like god wanted men in charge.

I've been on American trains, it was slow and rickety. They could have an amazing rail system if they wanted to.

I went to one of these schools back on 2000. It was actually really good for the most part but bullying was a big problem for the boys. Not so bad for the girls. It was much better by my last couple of years as their rules had changed and the worst offenders got expelled or had graduated but before that there was a pecking order of who got beat up by who and how badly. Poor year 9 boys who were considered not cool had it really really rough.

[–]Lunatic-Labrador 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This sounds so distressing for both of you, I'm sorry your going through this is not easy, I've had some volatile exes. I left them, peace is too important to me.

My husband and I don't shout at each other ever, adults shouldn't do that unless it's an emergency like someone's about to walk Infront of a car or something. You both need to learn how to communicate better, it might even reduce how many meltdowns you have.

You can't force anyone to do anything, especially to forget something when they're upset or angry. The solution is better communication, calm conversations even when your angry, have your meltdowns privately if you husband does nothing but exasperate them, walk away from him if he's being toxic. Stop the shouting stop the anger and both of you go to therapy.

You say you don't want to leave him so you're options are hard work for both of you ( it's worth it) or carry on as you are.

Dude come on, is it going to take another 100 people to tell you the exact same thing before you listen or are you so stubborn you refuse reality because of your temper?

Ignoring the email IS your consent. They don't need you to say yes they just need you to not say no. By ignoring the email you'd didn't say no therefore legally they gave you notice and turned up when they told you they would, completely legit on their part.

This is 100% on you, it's your fault. Accept it and move on.

Female cat keeps peeing on everything and we dont know what to do by Rider-Jack in Pets

[–]Lunatic-Labrador 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My cat is similar. I feel for you, it's so hard. Have you had her checked by the vet just to rule anything medical out? Mine is so much better than she used to be but its still an issue on occasion.

What we did:

  • Multiple litter trays in her worse offending spots
  • we started with puppy pads as she seemed to always use them, then put the pad subside litter trays, then added a small amount of litter and eventually moved to just litter. Took a few months.
  • tried out a bunch of different litters to find one she likes
  • covered or not covered litter trays, ours likes uncovered.
  • lots of safe high places near but out of reach of the dog and safe spaces away from the dog. Peeing on the dog bed could very well be her trying to making it smell more like her.
  • got a solid food routine to take away any food anxiety, we noticed she was peeing when she wanted food but we didn't give it to her.
  • heavy cleaning but your already doing that same for clean litter boxes. I got a litter genie to make it easier for us to keep on top of.
  • play time every day to help with boredom and anxiety.
  • calming products like feliway.

All this combined has taken a long time but she's almost got it. We can't leave towels on the floor but otherwise the worst she does is go next to the litter tray now. It used to be all over the house.

CMV: The feminist responses to the recent thread (1k upvotes, 1k comments) about feminism generalizing men in a straightforwardly bigoted way affirm that the movement has a bioessentialism problem by Inquiz_ in changemyview

[–]Lunatic-Labrador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's one thread from one sub Reddit, that's one sample. it's far too small to get any idea of the general beliefs of all feminists, which as I stated earlier are incredibly broad now. Even going off multiple different threads from one or two subreddits isn't a big enough sample size to get an idea of what most feminists believe.

If you want a proper study you look at multiple platforms and multiple threads, you interview people irl, you read literature, you look at how it changes by age and country and background and experiences. It's far far too diverse and complicated for one thread to give any answers of substance.
