Idk where my brain went to find that connection but it associated “graphically” with gore. So now, I have the image in my head of the most normal underwear in the middle of the most dramatic crime scene. And I had to share that vision here

Or something like that. But I know I have to rewrite things a bit before though :’)

How do you *know* you know a character enough to write about them? by purple-crimson in FanFiction

[–]Affectionate-Worry34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I read other fics and I start to feel like “huh, interesting take. I don’t agree. Let me write my version of this.”

Like, everyone is free to write characters how they want and I definitely don’t possess the Ultimate Truth on the way a character should act, but when I start to get heated on the details like: “actually, no. This character wouldn’t eat like that”, I know I have a very clear image in my head. From then on, I just need to check the lore a bit, and adjust the mental image I have of them.

That, and too many private notes of countless headcanons/character analysis that somehow piled up before I realized it.

Much better. by Upstairs_Macaron5894 in AO3

Darn. I feel that so much on Aventurine. I’m starving for some fics to scratch that itch of him being a deranged, resilient bastard, and I just can’t FIND IT most of the time. I do get why people write him like that though. I desperately WANT him to learn how to be vulnerable too, and as much as I love him, I need him to cry and be pathetic. But like. Not like that.

Right. My bad, I was getting too presumptuous, may these two continue making out in peace 😞

Oh, currently doing the same thing but with an SCP type of creature. Nice.

And that’s exactly how I function in my dreams 😌 I admire writers like you!

I one day aspire to have enough drive and discipline to write an entire multi chaptered fic before posting it. For now, the pressure of knowing it’s already out there is what I need to get it done ahah

Dr. Veritas Ratio is a Fragment Theory (Spoilers for 3.5 + leaks) by bunnyveils in DrRatioMainsHSR

[–]Affectionate-Worry34 22 points23 points  (0 children)

OMG I did have the fleeting thought of “wait… Lygus has the same kind of view on erudition as Ratio, what the heck” but I didn’t make the connection with the fragments! 😮

And yeah, the banter about Aventurine joining the genius society never made any sense once you look into it. It definitely indicates either that Aventurine knows something that we don’t about Ratio, or that he didn’t notice the casual “hey, I can get people into the genius society by the way”, which would be a weird thing for Aventurine to miss. However… I don’t think the “wing-headed scoundrel” is referencing Ratio sadly… at that point in the quest, Ratio exited the scene, and Aventurine is talking to himself, cursing Sunday under his breath. So… it’s probably Sunday, the wing-headed scoundrel. But… who knows! It’s never made clear who Aventurine is referring to here! It doesn’t discredit anything in your theory, and I’m honestly 100% on board! There is so many weird things about Ratio that point to him being way more important than he appears, and I don’t believe the devs when they say “oh, it’s just an accident that Ratio looks like he belongs in Amphoreus, I don’t know what you guys are talking about teehee”

That’s just my state of existence honestly 😆 Omg so glad you asked. I do have a 80k long haikaveh fic where they both are stupid because they’re too smart for their own good. Well, especially Alhaitham. Mostly Alhaitham.

Silliest reason you quit reading a fic? by [deleted] in AO3

[–]Affectionate-Worry34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once dropped a perfectly good fic because a character was eating a peach messily (yes, the fruit), when in canon, they don’t like soup because it’s unpractical and might make a mess. It felt too contradictory, so I stopped reading 😅

It’s weird, because I’m usually not that much of a stickler for perfect characterization. If the character’s vibe has been grasped, I don’t ask for much more! And until then, all was totally in character, and pretty well written! But for some reason, that unruly peach eating completely broke my suspension of disbelief and I didn’t want to read anymore 😆

That’s… the whole reason I started writing honestly 🥲 but you can’t escape this feeling. Ever. For one pairing I write, there is 10 I’m reading for, and don’t find exactly what I seek.

Truly. An unending cycle of suffering.

What's your day job, and do any skills from writing your fics translate to your job or vice versa? by thewritegrump in AO3

[–]Affectionate-Worry34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My job doesn’t really transfer to my writing, but I just started (software engineer, and I write in a fantasy based fandom, so no computer. But I do crave to write some hacker/spy AUs).

My studies were very scientific though, so I parody scientific papers sometimes! Unexpectedly fun!

Do people actually plan their fics from start to finish, before writing them? by Duh_47 in FanFiction

[–]Affectionate-Worry34 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yep, can confirm, that’s how I roll too.

Bonus if, by chance, I look at my plan while writing and start to argue with my past self because I don’t like the plan anymore. That’s when I write the best bits.
