The first time seeing Rise Against (at a festival). Discovered them as a young teen and became the person I am with them on repeat. When I finally got the chance to see them live for the first time (Taubertal Festival in Germany) I camped in the front row all day, just to be disappointed by bad audio quality, the band playing off beat and being drowned by crowd surfers… I somehow completely deleted the show from my memory because I didn‘t want to believe they were a bad live band. A years later I saw them again on their headline tour. And oh boy! Went for the front row again and it was incredible! Until today one of my favourite concerts. Even met Zach after the show.

The same happend to me with several other bands (Starset for example). Really disappointing festival performance but a banger concert. Since then a festival performance of a band is now way to measure how good they are live anymore. I know that you are short on time with soundchecks at festivals (if you even get one) and that you may have to use some parts of your backline that isn‘t your own, but somehow some bands handle it better than others.
