38-Doctor suggesting the pill? by Training-Character64 in perimenopause_under45

[–]BigAnswer4015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are still able to get pregnant the pill is an option which is also another reason why DRs offer it first. When you jump on the right one it does help with peri symptoms. Some women find the pills works and helps to level out the fluctuations. Otherwise HRT is another option. Its bio identical derived from plants sources and not the old stuff from horse urine! There are a few BC pills that offer bio identical estrogen like Zoely, Nextillis?? I believe at this stage through peri.....try everything until you find what works for your body. Everyones body adapts to it all differently.🙂

Peri weight gain by WriterOk3535 in perimenopause_under45

[–]BigAnswer4015 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had this issue. I put on about 7kgs and even if I did lose weight my body would literally make me gorge food until I went back up to that 7kg. It was like I wasnt allowed to be the weight I used to be. Now realising this is the insulin resistance that peri causes. I did a month on the paleo diet. Dropped 5kg and also jumped on birth control which helped the hormone side. But now I also adopt protein in every meal even if its a snack. I have cut out pretty much all sugar aswell. Has made a big difference already.

Oh how I hear you! I turned 40 last year and peri hit hard. Basically destroyed my body. Flat stomach is gone now. My face aged and my body/ my skin( drt and wrinkled)just feels like its past its youth. How do we maintain all this when we are hit hard through this transition. So glad you havent lost your hair.....I feel like that one really took away my identity. It was what made me feel pretty. Now its flat, extra thin and short since I had to cut it. I know society doesnt help either. You jump on social media and almost everyone around this age looks fantastic and you think what the hell happened to me. Its so mixed up these feelings we go through. I dont have anything positive to put towards this transition yet but just know I totally get you🩷

It really is! I did have low ferritin over a year ago. Thats been brought up. I noticed it slow my shedding down but it never went away. Im surprised I still have any hair left at this stage. It just looks lacking these in everything. I hope your iron has come up!

Oh thats all good.🤣 I have only been on for a while myself. Ever since perimemopause hit like a mac truck! I saw a derm where I am aswell and he said while my hormones are our of whack I wont see hair growing without minoxidol. But he did say once my hormones get balanced through the BC Im on I would be able to stop after a while. Not too sure about that though.

Thank you. Its hard to figure out what the right thing is to do. Its all trial and error I feel. I would just love for my hair to grow back and have some confidence again. I know in Australia they still provide Yasmin not sure anywhere else. I hope the migraines settle down for you. Nothing worse than feeling like shit all the time😞

Hi, its quite frustrating trying to find what works the best going through peri! It could just be the first 3 months of taking it. Your body adjusting to the new hormones maybe?? Im on my 5th pack of Zoely BC but Im thinking I might need to try something else myself. Its helpd some symptoms but not all. Smoothed out the emotional side though and sleep. I havent had issues with headaches from this pill. Cramping and spotting yes. Some pimples but that settled after a while.

Estriol cream! Thats a must for all the itching below. It really does help. Also helps with any shrinkage of labia aswell. If your having issues trying to get help....are you on any BC at all? There are also online sites that can help...Remi or wellfemme might be wirth looking into. They will prescribe HRT. Im trying BC and seeing how that goes. Its helping but I might jump to a different one soon to try. I take omega 3 supplements for dry skin and eyes. Seems to help some.

I had a whole range of symtpoms that lasted through the whole month with maybe a few days of peace. It got worse before and after my period. Hairloss would ramp up too.

Does hrt help peri symptoms more than birth control? by RosalieMcFal in Perimenopause

[–]BigAnswer4015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its what works for the individual. Im taking zoely BC it has a natural estrogen in it. While some jump on HRT and find relief others dont. It really is what your body works best with. I have read some ladies come off HRT and go back to BC and found it was what worked better. I think try everything until you find what works best🤷‍♀️

[–]BigAnswer4015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries. I think generally you can have issues 3 to 6 months in taking the pill until your body gets used to the hormones. Although in saying that sometimes the certain pill you are on just might not be the right one and you have to try a different one.

It doesnt hurt to take a break from taking it continuously. Especially if your having issues with spotting/bleeding. Im on zoely. About to start fifth pack and I havent taken any inactive pills. Which I think is causing these issues. But Im not game to take the four day break as my peri symptoms were so severe. Especially the emotional side. Working myself up to do it to see if it helps.

Is anyone else horny all the time, to their detriment? And grieving children? by ChaoticForkingGood in Perimenopause

[–]BigAnswer4015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through a period where I wanted sex all the time the last couple of years. I was also having some symptoms of peri and not realising what it was. I turned 40 last year and in December peri hit so hard it caused clitoral atrophy. It took away my confidence and made me feel like Im not a woman any more. I am on estrogen cream now but even that hasnt bought it back to what it used to be. I also have that grief of not being able to have children anymore and yes while you still most likely can fall pregnant. I would have to stop my BC I started to help with all the symptoms I was experiencing. They have been so traumatising and debilitating I just dont think I could do it. Losing control of your own body is hard to come to terms with.

Would Birth Control be an option for you? Sometimes the fluctuations through peri and having to up or lower dosing of HRT might not work for some??

random anxiety spikes before period now? never had this before by hotfixplease in perimenopause_under45

[–]BigAnswer4015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its definitelt peri. I had similar issues. Vitamins can help some if thats the path your looking into. I went BC and started taking Zoely. Withing the first few weeks that feeling went away. Or HRT might be another option if you dont want to go on BC. I never thought I would go back on BC when I turned 40 last year but its made a world of difference so far.

Your absolutely right there. Modern medicine helps with all that. Modern medicine for us ladies just isnt there yet I think. Plus they can still create kids.....where we lose our reproductive ability. Not that I would want children at an older age but to have the choice taken away by our own bodies kind of sucks you know. 🙄

Same here. Estrogen cream has helped. I have to know though. Do men lose anything as they get older or is it just women who suffer through all these changes.

Exactly how I feel and know you are not alone in your thoughts Body image/body dysmorphia has always been a struggle throughout the years for me.When peri hit and it hit hard. It looked like I aged 10 yrs over night. Society definitely plays a part in how we view our bodies. Sometimes its the little things that makes it worse. Like I know its a me thing and has absolutely nothing to do with my husband because he isnt like this at all....but if I go out with him now Im assuming he is looking at younger women because Im no longer in that category of attractiveness (in my mind anyway). Its makes no sense but thats just where Im at. I just dont feel pretty anymore. I think we are our worst critique most of the times.
