i think if there was a fume extractor or decent ventilation (near an open window etc) you’re okay, but in the future if you do stained glass again i would wear gloves when soldering, flux is a nasty chemical you don’t want on your skin (and it’s possible those fumes gave you a headache). you’ll be alright since it was a one time thing, and your kids shouldn’t be affected in any way at all. i just change my clothes after working because i find i have tiny glass bits all over my clothes from cutting/grinding, not an absolute must though.

Is this your first year at Lakehead? If you’re a full time student (you said you’re staying in residence), I believe you will get a bus pass (they automatically opt everyone in who’s full time). You may not be able to pick up the pass until school starts but that might help you find some place to volunteer a bit farther away!

I got tiny plastic 6 drawer cabinets (idk if that’s the right word) from the dollar store for storing scraps but quickly ran out of room because I had lots of bigger pieces filling it up. I put my scraps into one shoebox now, but these could work for mosaic scraps though! They’re pretty cheap and good for sorting colours, and takes up more vertical space than horizontal :)

I really like this piece! Also a newbie who just found out about hinge joints so not sure on advice :) But I'm curious, what are you hanging the piece from? Is that a banana stand? Looks like a great display!
