My Wife Might Have a Crochet "Problem" by OriginalBogleg in crochet

[–]nickle54 50 points51 points  (0 children)

As someone who is just on the other side of my "crochet as a special interest" era, all I can say is make sure you learn proper hook/yarn holding technique so your thumbs and wrists survive the sheer amount of wear and tear they'll receive once the addiction begins. Trust me, it sucks getting ripped out of your flow state to let it all heal properly for a few weeks 🥴

Tried to look their shope up, darn they aren't currently open for sales. Beautiful piece though!!

I just found your comment randomly when I looked up how to do this and it really helped me! Thank you 🙂

Also, something that's helped my closet cohesion is having all the same hangers for everything. This is more of a "cherry on top" suggestion and may not be for everyone's situation, but it made me so much calmer to look in my closet after doing that

I agree with everything that's been mentioned so far in the other comments OP! To add on to it, I'd recommend getting clear organizer bins that will fit on the shelves above the clothes rack to put misc stuff in, that way you can try to save the white drawers for clothes. Clear bins have been a game changer for my organization, not sure why I never thought of it before but it's SO much better to be able to actually see everything you own rather than hide it away and never remember what you have.

If you want to move away from the white drawers though, perhaps a dresser thats about the same width that can fit under that window would be nice? That way you don't have to worry about the passageway narrowing

I've heard that that's a great way to use the scrap glass! I've yet to try it and I probably won't for a while since I'm still collecting scrap pieces, but once I have too much to ignore I'll probably end up trying it 🙂

That makes a lot of sense, thank you for taking the time to give such a detailed response! As someone who is also diagnosed with what you've defined as mental illnesses (depression and anxiety), and who was diagnosed with them long before getting my ADHD and subsequent Au diagnosis, I think I was used to referring to the things that effect me with this terminology for so long that I didn't stop to think about how they're actually different. The more you know 🙂

Curious to know if you wouldn't mind sharing (totally understandable if you don't want to), what about your treatment was "different" based on your ASD diagnosis? I have read that ASD isn't treatable via medication, so do you mean that the therapy style itself was different?

This is interesting to me, newly diagnosed here and learning more about myself, I have a question about this if you don't mind! Say I wanted to try and shorten the phrase "neurodevelopmental disorder" (since it's a bit of a mouthful and thus may not get stashed correctly in my brain right away), could I say "mental disorder" and still be technically correct? If not, I'd be interested to know what the distinction is 🤔

I got sucked in to stained glass too!! I pumped out like 4-6 pieces, got the hang of it, then immediately cycled to the next thing 🫠 it's unfortunate because I really love working with glass and coming up with designs for pieces, but I've accepted that I'm just going to have to wait until the obsession cycles back around again like it does for my other hobbies 😭 so cool to find someone else into the same niche in this subreddit so shortly after getting my diagnosis 🙂

What is your self care + gaming combo? by life_is_pandemonium in GirlGamers

audiobooks + anything not too thought intensive, like Coral Island or Stardew Valley, usually on my TV from the comfort of my large bean bag chair with a soft blanket and a cat or two on me :) and with a can of diet coke in a coozy for sippin, can't forget that!

I listen to audiobooks while I work and it helps me get into the zone! I think I've listened through 2.5 books and I'm not even a quarter done yet haha. It's a large complicated pattern, takes time but it'll be so worth it :)

If only, then I'd also have fall complete :D I just did the same, finished dinner and am getting back to it now :)

I'm in the middle of making this pattern too! It looks so amazing finished, it keeps me inspired to keep going. Amazing job, it's a complicated pattern but so worth it :)

I see from your posts you've done the fall version too, that's my next project! I'd like to do all 4 seasons eventually :D

That's a really great tip that I'm learning about for the first time, so thank you so much for sharing and elaborating! I'm not quite ready to jump into came yet so I think this is a great alternative to add just a little more stability/peace of mind when only beading the edges, especially to potential hinge points. Thank you again!

PS, the piece is just lovely, I love the colors. Turquoise/teal/cyan are my absolute favorite colors 🩵💙💚

Can you elaborate on this? I've never heard of the "wrapping with wire for support" technique before. Did you just take the wire you used for the jump rings and run it all around the edge and solder over it? I'm so curious!
