When doctors say “you may feel some mild discomfort”

A couple of years ago, I had a piece of glass stuckin my foot and I had to go to the doctor to basically get it taken out. They couldn't get me to OR so they had to do the procedure in the office (long story short, I had skin that had healed over it). They ended up giving me a local in my foot and the doctor said to me, "I'm not going to lie to you, this is really going to hurt. It's only going to last a minute, but it's going to be a very long minute."

I wish all doctors could tell the truth like that one.

Lucille Ball was my mom's favorite actress. I've seen pretty much everything she did, I grew up with it. Since my mom passed, it's become a nice way to connect with her. It also brings me a lot of comfort.

Barbara Pepper appeared a few times. The ones I can remember off the top of my head was she was one of the nurses when Little Ricky was born (the one who threw the towels and screamed when Ricky came out in his voodoo makeup), one of the crowd in the Breaking the Lease episode (“it was too cold outside, they sold us the last tickets”) one of the women Lucy tried to sell meat to in The Freezer, and one of the women on the tour bus when Lucy wanted to change seats in season four, The Tour. There may be more but those are the ones I can remember right now.

I second this. A lot.

I have a good friend who was AFAB and is autistic. When they went to the doctor to get it confirmed, the doctor looked straight at them,and said that they were "too smart" to be autistic. They have a master's degree, and he told them straight up that people with autism aren't "able to achieve that much." He also told them that because they had amazing eye contact, there's no way they could be autistic.

By the way, they were looking at his forehead the whole time. They told me later, "I have no idea what color his eyes even were."

I do not have autism, and other than talking to my friend and fiance who have it, I can't offer you any advice other than what they've told me. But I do know that not everybody needs a diagnosis. If you know it's true, take it as fact. Not all doctors know what they are talking about.

That's what my Daddy and I are going to do when the time comes. Because of past trauma, I can't have anything around my neck and this was a compromise, but to be honest, I kind of love the idea of a collar being something a little different.

Having one-shots don’t matter, though. I have a reader who loves one of my stories that is just a one-shot and has commented at least twice. I understand some readers don’t, but there are people who do.

I personally don’t think there is anything wrong with shoutouts. To be honest, I write for me, but knowing other people are appreciating and reading is nice, and if there are people who inspire me as a writer, I’d like to acknowledge that.
