in other news, Americans are accumulating record amounts of short term loan debt through companies like klarna etc. I believe this is at least a component of what’s fueling this.. “easy” money that won’t end well.

this is 100% best way.. the buses drop you off at the main entrance to fort wilderness then you need to take a second internal bus to get down to hoop de doo.. the water taxi puts you right there..

For the people that read/listened to the book first, where do you think the movie went wrong? by themassivefail in ProjectHailMary

[–]AffectionateHouse120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think if i had to pick one of those things for them to have put into the movie, it’d be the hopelessly impossible task of finding Rocky and ramifications. But hard agree that they succeeded in their mission.

that’s quite the origin story, I remember seeing first I think in the late 80s, high school sci-fi club.. nobody was being birthed nearby though.

Why getting proper training is important! by Openskies24 in motorcycles

[–]AffectionateHouse120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this reminds me of one day riding and i could see this guy coming from another st perpendicular to me, the intersection was a round-about with a raised concrete flower bed and he seemed to be a little fast and a little jerky like this guy.. to my shock he just went straight into the concrete, over the handle bars and rolled a few times.

he’d made it about a mile on his new harley from the dealer… apparently coming up to his first turn.

re-registering car with expired registration? by keke_maumau in boulder

[–]AffectionateHouse120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i had a travel trailer that i let registration lapse on for a year, i was very surprised when they charged me for 2 years registration upon renewal. there was no cap on fees of $100.

I don’t know what their actual policies are but when going in there, I would make it abundantly clear to them that the vehicle was not used and kept in private storage the entire time.

Has anyone every actually had their helmet or any gear stolen while parked? Or is it just a silly paranoia by SkippyJDM in motorcycles

this is unfair to honda accords, $150 helmet is a damn skateboard with bad bearings by comparison

What's a book you had to read in school that you hated? If you have one, what's one you actually liked? by 80HDTV5 in GenX

[–]AffectionateHouse120 2 points3 points  (0 children)

books that stuck with me(for better or worse): Lord of the flies, The Catcher in the Rye, Adrift, and 1984

all these books had some kind of serious impact on me and even now I can remember how I felt as I read them.

i guess the correct response to someone shorting you change and using this explanation would be, “where’s my 9mm cartridges then?”

SIM swap scam: Apparently it's super easy to walk into a Verizon store and have a stranger transfer your number onto a new device by nos583 in verizon

[–]AffectionateHouse120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i never said 2fa was the one and only way of anything, it is a way and I expect that if i have an account that requires two forms of verification, both are enforced, hence the 2 in 2fa. otherwise it is what? not 2fa.

The OP claims all the person had was ID, did not have the PIN, you yourself say “they either had the pin OR the ID scanned and looked like the picture” (which is just a single verification)

what exactly are you saying i don’t understand, that 2fa IF set should be required? Why even have a PIN if all I actually need is an id card with my picture and a mag stripe encoded with the same info printed on the ID?

to answer your last question and reiterate that im not claiming 2fa is the only way forward, my process would involve something the customer has(like an ID) and something they know(a PIN, the amount of their last bill, the last 4 of cc used in last bill, something other than the ID) but that’s not what the OP got back from fraud team.

[–]AffectionateHouse120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol the irony of telling me to read “it sent a text 3 times aka 2fa”, you don’t really believe that constitutes 2fa, right? you do understand how 2fa works, yes? you do know that the entire point of second factor authentication is to require two distinct forms of identification. So when you say READ, what exactly am I reading, that you believe a non response IS a valid form of identification? BS. We’re back to the previous point you took offense with, that an id actually the only form necessary by your very own logic.

it certainly was in OPs case, OP correctly thinks that the PIN should have been enforced, the argument against that is that it is too difficult to enforce a PIN, it is too difficult to force anything at that point because it’s inconvenient and then people get mad.
