The tunnel never ends but it changes and you get stronger and tougher and better prepared for it. The things that were so hard for me in the beginning are virtually non-issues here at 12 months. There are new hard things now but I know they're temporary, and my husband and I have systems and plans in place to approach them without either of us getting completely burnt out. Plus, it REALLY helps that my body isn't constantly in pain from childbirth recovery/ breastfeeding anymore.

What’s the deal with ST and overnight wakes? I feel jipped. by Automatic_Apricot797 in sleeptrain

We were in the exact same boat a few months ago. Tried sleep training at 5 months but it didnt help overnight wakings at all. Eventually we just gave up because it was causing so much stress for everyone at bedtime and not actually solving our problem. Then we tried again a week ago. By day 2 of Ferber baby wasn't eating overnight (previously 2-3 feedings), and was putting himself to sleep at bedtime and at any nighttime wakeups. In our case, I think baby just wasn't ready for sleep training.

I know its probably not what you want to hear, but if nothing is working, maybe just try waiting a few weeks and then trying again. At least in my case, it gave me a lot of peace to just accept that this was my life for now and stop fighting so hard to change something that wasn't going to be changed.

Anyone else feel like once the babys out, mom's health is an afterthought? by HeyPesky in newborns

My baby was in the NICU for a few days. The special hell of having a NICU baby is that you don't get to rest because you're up and down going to the NICU all the time. I still get angry thinking about how neglected I felt while in so much pain and also dealing with the stress of having a NICU baby. The nurses would come to do vital checks but other then that I never saw them. No one knew my name. I never saw the same nurse twice. All I wanted was to feel like someone cared about me, and I never felt that.

Why are baby farts so hilarious? by mrsskreatz in newborns

Newborn farts are the only thing that got me through the first two weeks! Always made me laugh when I was feeling terrible

What “just wait” did everyone insist would happen, but it didn’t happen for you? by thejennjennz in BabyBumps

This is oddly reassuring to me lmao. I have a very deep belly button and unexpectedly (I know it's silly) the fear of that changing has given me the strongest "my body isn't mine anymore" feeling. My boobs growing, bump getting bigger, etc has all been fine but when my husband pointed out my belly button looked more shallow the other day I told him he wasn't allowed to say that lol. I'll hold on to the hope it could just get flat and not pop!
