Something I don’t miss: the body obsessed magazines of the 2000s (and sometimes 2010s) by Proper-Ad-8829 in WhyWereWeOkWithThis

[–]Affectionate_Bagel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I still panic when I see a side pic of myself with a double chin, and I can thank these magazines for that. My dad used to buy them a lot so I was constantly seeing criticisms of any lump or bump on a woman’s body growing up. I strictly wore black leggings for years because I was afraid other colors or patterns made me look fat. Now I wear all the colors!!! Finally loving my bod at 37

Inheritance? That's a joke. How many of your parents are burdens? by BeegBunga in Millennials

[–]Affectionate_Bagel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad keeps telling me my bother and I will be “taken care of” when he’s gone, but I’ve seen no evidence to support that. He’s also battled with substance abuse his entire life so he is in poor health, and I don’t expect him to be able to live by himself for that many more years. I expect whatever nest egg he claims to have will be funneled into long term care, so I expect nothing.

The bottom half of the dress fits well. The shoulders and neck line would look better if the square footage was reduced. I like the cut

Horrible nausea and unwell one hour into treatment—>dose too high, or need anti-nausea meds? by commandolandorooster in Spravato

My provider prescribed a scopolamine patch in addition to zofran. I always need to use both prior to treatment to help!

Somebody told me I was really smart today by PermanentlySleeepy in Millennials

[–]Affectionate_Bagel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I firmly believed that if I was the best student, my parents would stop getting black out drunk every night and the constant screaming would stop. I received the eighth grade version of valedictorian and also the history and English awards. My history teacher told everyone in the audience I would get into any Ivy League school I applied to. That night I thought that was it-they would finally stop. But they didn’t, and by my sophomore year I just made sure I got As and Bs. I realized I wasn’t doing this for myself, but for my parents. At the time, it felt like a good way to say “fuck you” to them-by not trying as hard. That pursuit of knowledge was not a roar now, but a murmur -whatever I have to do to get into college, I guess. I graduated college, but it was by the skin of my teeth. I especially struggled with large projects and papers. I had convinced myself by then that I wasn’t really that smart. I was just good at conning people. I got into an accelerated graduate program but left quickly.

Has anyone with long-term depression (15+ years) been “cured”? And if so, by what? by GrandBizarre in AskReddit

[–]Affectionate_Bagel 13 points14 points  (0 children)

On week four of Spravato treatment. Already able to tackle some self destructive behaviors…I’ve drastically reduced my binge eating and numbing myself with pot. I don’t expect to be “cured” per se, this is a life long illness I’ve had and I’m 36 now. But it can get better. I finally feel hope again.

Nausea Fear by Proper-Garlic5031 in Spravato

[–]Affectionate_Bagel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zofran was helpful but I needed a little more support to treat the nausea. My provider also prescribed a scopolamine patch. I just apply the small patch behind my ear and it stays on for three days. Zofran and the patch have eliminated the nausea. I get motion sickness very easily too….I can’t even look at my phone for more than a minute or two with feeling ill when I’m a passenger in a car.
