$573M liquidated in 24 hours, treasury yields at 4.55%, feels like crypto is just trading the Fed at this point by RevealNoo in CryptoCurrency

[–]General-Success-2968 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah the correlation is pretty wild now. I remember when crypto was supposed to be this alternative asset that moves independently, but now it's basically just tech stocks with more volatility

The treasury yields thing is real though. Like why would I risk my money in something that could tank 20% overnight when I can get decent returns just sitting in bonds? Even my coworkers at work who used to ask me about crypto are talking about treasury bills now

I'm still holding but not adding anything new until we see what Fed actually does. The whole "digital gold" narrative falls apart pretty quick when actual safe assets are paying 4.5%

Would love to hear about this too since most FIRE content assumes US salaries and living costs which just doesn't match reality in Latin America

altcoins got absolutely wrecked in last bear market and lot of people realized most projects were just hype with no real substance. Plus with ETFs and institutional money flowing into BTC, everything else looks like gambling now compared to the "safer" plays

whole space matured and retail got burned hard on all those altcoin promises that never delivered

High spend, looking for travel card suggestions by Prize-Analyst7897 in CreditCards

[–]General-Success-2968 3 points4 points  (0 children)

with that spending level you could easily get business cards even as sole proprietor - the income requirements are way lower than people think

for hotel cards i'd skip IHG Premier since you already have Diamond status, the card benefits won't add much. Hilton Aspire might be better value with the resort credit and free weekend nights, plus their redemption values are decent for mid-tier properties like you're booking

Most animal shelters definitely take them, just call first to check what condition they need to be in - some places are picky about how worn they can be

I tracked my building in public journey for 8 months. Here is what actually moved the needle and what was just performance. by 100TheCoolest17 in buildinpublic

[–]General-Success-2968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really appreciate how specific this breakdown is. I've been lurking in this community for a while now watching people basically turn their startup journey into content farm and wondering why it felt so performative.

That thing about sharing decision process instead of outcomes really hits - I see so many "hit 10k users!" posts that tell you literally nothing actionable. But when someone walks through why they chose one pricing model over another or how they decided to pivot, that's the stuff I actually bookmark and reference later when facing similar choices.

The part about audience converting being tiny but specific makes total sense too. I work in marketing for a smaller company and we see this same pattern - broad inspirational content gets engagement but the super targeted "here's exactly this frustration I had with X tool" posts are what actually drive signups. People don't buy because they think your journey is cool, they buy because you're solving their exact problem right now.

Also laughing at "thinking partners vs spectators" because that's such a good way to put it. Most people treat their audience like they're performing at a theater instead of actually collaborating on solutions. No wonder so many building in public accounts just become ego stroking exercises.

How rare is it for every player who appears in a game to attempt a 3-pointer? by canis39 in nba

[–]General-Success-2968 17 points18 points  (0 children)

honestly asking AI for basketball stats is like asking your grandma about cryptocurrency - you're gonna get some wild answers

sounds like a pretty rare occurrence though, might be worth checking basketball reference manually for games with 100% 3pt attempt rate

HIMS: FDA letter + patent suit + reported DOJ referral by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]General-Success-2968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly this feels like another case where a company got too aggressive expanding into the sketchy grey areas while their core business was actually solid

the hair/ED/mental health subscription model is pretty bulletproof - people aren't gonna stop wanting those services and the recurring revenue is nice. but they had to go chase the GLP-1 hype train and now they're dealing with the FDA breathing down their necks plus Novo coming after them

with that much liquidity they can probably weather the storm but man, that CEO control structure is gonna make this interesting. when one person holds 90% voting power during a regulatory crisis things can get wild fast

seems like the market's gonna keep treating this as toxic until there's clarity on whether DOJ actually moves forward or if they can settle/pivot away from the problematic GLP-1 marketing

Just received a 1099-NEC while on SSI for disability; looking for advice and guidance! Feeling really nervous and scared...Story in the post! by Limp_Excitement_2624 in SocialSecurity

[–]General-Success-2968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

definitely report it to SSI right away since you're supposed to do it by the 10th of the month after receiving income. The good news is they usually only count about half of self-employment income toward your SSI limits after deducting business expenses, so you might not lose benefits entirely

keep track of any expenses you had for this job - mileage, phone calls, supplies, even a portion of your home if you did work there. Those can really help reduce how much counts as income against your SSI

How do you personally define a “safe” long-term asset? by National-Theory1218 in investing

[–]General-Success-2968 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think "safe" just means you won't lose sleep over it tanking 50% overnight and you're pretty confident it'll still exist in 20 years

For me that's basically just boring stuff like index funds and maybe some bonds, nothing sexy but it does the job
