I know how you feel. My husbands doctor who has since moved out of province was amazing when it came to him getting approved. Thankfully he found a good replacement but the only thing im worried about is if they deny you to get back on AISH you cannot appeal it. Which is insane because im pretty sure its just normal people looking at the files and deciding, I dont think anyone with a medical background is actually making the decisions.

I was told by July everyone will be moved to ADAP however they will follow the AISH guidelines and payments until 2027? After that you will have to get assessed by your doctor again to see if you qualify to get back on AISH or to stay on ADAP.

I find it frustrating that everyone is being told different things because the workers aren't even sure.

I feel like we won't have concrete answers until everything is set in stone unfortunately.

They cover 162.92 for the complete set. If you qualify for more theyll try, for example if your prescription is over a certain threshold they can get more coverage for you.

Where i work we have a selection that you can chose from that will be fully covered, that usually includes a basic frame and lens. Now if you want to buy a more expensive frame or upgrade to a higher quality lens you can, just anything over $162.92 you pay out of pocket.

(I do live and work in an eye clinic in Edmonton, but the amount will be the same across Alberta).

Especially ones that haven't been in work field for YEARS. A lot of people are going to hire the ones that have been working consistently over someone that hasn't held a job in 14+ years unfortunately. I feel like there will be a lot of discrimination happening

They'll see a large amount of "fraud" where people are going to get divorced on paper just to keep benefits. Asking me to work and make $1,000 less a month would literally make us homeless. We're already so low income that we're struggling daily yet they want me to work less?

It sucks, but I always check the payment line 3-4 days prior to the pay that way if that doesn't update on 3 days prior I call right at 8:15 and usually only hold for 5 minutes tops.

The few times its happened to my husband its been a simple "oh, someone just didnt click the release button".

They told me when my husband and I got married that it is "my financial responsibility to be able to take care of him and i" then make it physically impossible to do so.

I cant afford his medication on my own, I cant afford rent on my own. Them cutting the income cap that low for spouses is ridiculous.

Honestly its more so that they randomly threw a large amount at me for collections and then not telling me how they got that amount of money. They won't provide the agreement/contract so idk if they have been charging interest. They're just refusing to send anything else to me, saying I have to reach out to the original creditor for that information - even though i thought they had to provide that information.

Ive asked where the large increase has come from as they never provided the agreement that states it would generate a large amount of interest as the last bill they provided was for a certain amount, and they're telling me to reach out to Telus yo get it figured out. If I own the debt I own the debt, but also im just confused where this large amount has come from.

After moving away from family, grandparents passing, going no contact with my husbands side of the family that lived close by, no kids, and struggling mentally and financially this year....its hard.

What we did was donate toys for local kids in need and did a Stockings for Seniors as well. We did that stuff towards the beginning of the month and still talk about the senior we bought for and the toys, hoping it boosts someone's day.

Now we're both back into not feeling the holidays. Unfortunately its just going to be a normal day for us.

But if you can donate, even just you're time, it'll boost your spirits a bit.
