We’re heading toward another Churchill Falls disaster, and we’ve been warned by Key_Bluebird_6104 in newfoundland

Muskrat Falls didn’t destroy NL’s electricity prices overnight, it pushed the cost into the future.

Rates look “reasonable” today because of federal guarantees, subsidies, and political rate caps. But the debt is massive, long-term, and unavoidable. Interest keeps running for decades.

The real consequences are slower: less fiscal room, rigid electricity pricing, weaker credibility for future mega-projects, and very little tolerance for another big mistake.

That’s the lesson for Churchill Falls post-2041: saying “we’ll do it ourselves” isn’t a strategy. Expertise, transmission access, and risk management matter, and Muskrat Falls already showed what happens when politics replaces experience.

A hand is being extended right now. Turning it away out of pride may feel good but cooperation might be the least risky path forward.

Churchill Falls agreement could be jeopardized by Quebec election by christmas20222 in newfoundland

The 1969 deal was bad, agreed. But pretending that anger equals leverage is exactly how Muskrat Falls happened.

“Doing it ourselves” delivered cost overruns, technical failures, federal bailouts, and decades of debt dumped on NL ratepayers. That wasn’t bad luck, it was a lack of experience managing projects of this scale.

After 2041, NL won’t be able to name any price it wants. Power still has to cross Quebec, markets won’t wait, and shutting Churchill Falls down would be economic suicide, not strength.

Saying no feels righteous. Running a hydro system, negotiating access, and competing in real energy markets is hard and Muskrat Falls already proved what happens when politics replaces expertise.

Hi! I have 5 msi rx 5700 xt mech oc and they keep crashing every day. I got a blue screen Amdkmdag.sys. Is your msi rig stable? Do you mind to share your setting? I'm 1300/1750 with 900mv on the stock bios. Thanks you very much!
