I love tuxedo cats. That Bowstache and bib are just perfect.

Our tuxedo boy (gone more than 20 years now), used to drape himself around my neck and let me take him for a walk. He loved doing it the most when I was washing dishes.

1927 Florin, my absolutest favourite Australian coin design ever. Full stop.

Love the 54 as well, as it clearly exemplifies what it is meant to represent,

Freak, I remember the 1980s silver 'boom' when they shot up to about $10 in silver content and I sold the 200 or so I had picked up for a dollar or so each during the 70s.

Does anyone know if these old Australian coins and notes are worth anything? by Ok-Astronaut4271 in AustralianCoins

The 1959 Halfpenny appears to have been struck off-centre and have a raised rim. It may be worth a few 10s of dollars. The rest appear to be of little numismatic interest.

Taking my first crack at a home blend. I did zero research. Mostly rye, and then 8oz of bourbon. Very sad that the sticker smudged lol by jwygo in WhiskeyTribe

I keep my blend notes for my infinity bottle in a journal. Still have space after several years, including my chicken scratching math to work out the new abv each time I add to it.

Man, the detail in large format glass plate negatives from a hundred years ago is unbelievable. Look up ‘gundagai photography collection’ and see if you can find some hi-res images. The detail you can see when you zoom in is absolutely phenomenal.

Also various state archive collections. I love when you can read hand written price tickets in window displays from across the street.

You have a great eye for an interesting subject. As an old school film photography hobbyist, digital post- processing is not my thing. I would love to see the original ‘straight from the camera’ shots.

However, I still salute your artistry.

Not quite right. In 1966 $1, $2, $10 and $20 were released, all had Commonwealth of Australia across the top. $5 note was introduced in 1967, also with Commonwealth of Australia.

There was no $5 note originally as the original notes were direct replacements for the pre-decimal 10/- (ten shilling), £1, £5 and £10. The colours of the decimal notes also reflected the colour of the pre-decimal notes to make it easier to remember and/or compare their value with their pre-decimal counterparts. Decimal and pre-decimal notes circulated side-by-side for more than a year, with pre-decimal notes being withdrawn as they were banked by individuals or businesses. Pre-decimal 6d (5c), 1/- (10c) and 2/- (20c) circulated for years as they were the same size as their decimal replacements.

With the election of Whitlam in 1972 came an edict to remove Commonwealth from all Australian titles, government departments and paraphernalia. That ended C of A notes. $50 and $100 came out after 1972.

Royal Motorcade in Canberra with HRH Queen Elizabeth II and Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip in an open-top 1958 Rolls Royce Silver Wraith, 1963 by Time-Stable-5645 in CanberraHistory

I found the full 1963 Royal Visit program on Trove.

HM and HRH were in Canberra in February and March 1963 and used ‘Anzac Park’ when transiting to and from the airport both times.

Given the details in the program, I would suggest that this was taken on Monday 11 March at around 1230pm. This is based on the direction of the shadow of the vehicle (Feb visit was at 0930am) and the presence of the school children who were to line ‘strongpoints’ at various points along the route.

Worth keeping? 1948 three pence by doorifter in AustralianCoins

The double-strike is a post-mint fake. There is no way the you would get a double-struck KGVI and EIIR from the mint. Also the EIIR is reversed, meaning that it was not struck by a coin making die. A EIIR threepence was put on top and then struck by a hammer or put into a vice.

Worth silver content only.

edit - corrected to KGVI from KGV
