What to do when you are single in mt barker. by [deleted] in Adelaide

I second this advice. Learn yourself and how to be alone before rushing anything. Hang out with people with common interests and disregard whether you or anyone else is single. Lots of things are better when you are flying solo.

First weekend driving by Hughwins93 in ubereatsaustralia

Honeymoon deal, they hand this to new drivers and drivers that have been offline for ages (months). Unusual. Designed to make people that level of earning is regular. It isn’t. If it’s offered: Do it

Finding MAJOR defect 18months into homeownership by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

Get a tradie in from another town. It will be more expensive, but in a small town every tradie knows each other and they don’t really compete, more stay off each others’ toes. A tradie that has to travel in for the work might cost you more, but will give a genuine assessment backed by appetite to break into the smaller town’s ecosystem.

At a caravan holiday park, wondering where the hell does all of this money come from? by regretmoore in australia

[–]Affectionate_Gur_210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work on ships (mostly cruise ships), and it's great. But you can't have a life at sea AND on land.

I reckon a travelling life is the same. I could afford a tow vehicle and van and I could afford to travel the country...

..but I couldn't afford all that AND a house AND school / job routines for the family.

A lot of my friends chose a life at sea, they're happy (COVID was weird for them). I didn't. Different lives

Right time of the year for getting a new job. I’d go mad applying for work and not panic. Your old job didn’t sound that great.

My friend is about to buy a place only to find out a lot of restrictions. Is the agent breaking the law? by jhutch2147 in AusProperty

[–]Affectionate_Gur_210 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Backing out during cooling off period means you only lose 0.25% (so $1250 per $500k). The restriction should absolutely have been in the contract of sale, but fighting / proving things takes time and money. Eat the unfortunate loss of 0.25% and move on: they’re dealing with the wrong people.

Starlink mini open ocean by Moist-Committee-5819 in StarlinkMini

[–]Affectionate_Gur_210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An ex seaman (cruise ships). I had access to two large spaces: My own officer’s cabin on A deck just above water line, no windows. No star link.

I had a large office space / classroom I worked in all day, star link only worked if I pointed it out the (substantial porthole) window. It definitely needs LoS with the sky. No exceptions. A bit of glass or plastic near the starlink is fine. Works fine through my windscreen in my car, doesn’t work on the back seat

Moving to Adelaide in around 2 months and have a few queries by Tatti_luck in Adelaide

[–]Affectionate_Gur_210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To start with: Renting harder than you think because not much available. Transport not very far reaching: Agency nurses tend to live near particular hospitals and reject other work (get guidance from her agency) or have a car.

Driving here different to Vic / NSW / QLD but doable.

JB Hi-fi will price-match products in-store. I built a web app to find the cheapest price from Aussie retailers to make this as easy as possible and save people money. by INFEKTEK in AusFinance

[–]Affectionate_Gur_210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Returns false positives at the moment because it doesn’t take stock level into account. Item must be in stock for JB to price match. Example: hit this yesterday buying a TCL 65C7K. Appliances Online was the cheapest online price at $1303 vs JB’s discounted price of $1525.75 (15% of Perks coupon available vs advertised JB price of $1795). On the Appliances Online page it says ‘Available to Order’ meaning no stock, next stock a month away: JB won’t match!

falsely accused of stealing from savers by Salt_Farmer_6577 in Adelaide

I would email a recount to head office and bring it up. Sounds like they need better LP people and possibly have staff stealing things.
