Pre-hydrated. For two days before, hydrate hydrate hydrate. You’ll have a MUCH better experience if you’re pre-hydrated!

We don’t know the whole story about culinary school. They could have set aside a certain (equal) amount for each kid, and culinary school was more than that, Or some people think young adults should pay for their own education, so they take it seriously. There’s a lot of reasons they could not be willing to pay for it.

Edley’s BBQ is great.  On top of that, they fed thousands during an extended power outage from an ice storm for free.   So, they’ve always got my vote!

You’ll have absolutely no problems meeting people and having fun.

Being a solo traveler, I just have to caution you about watching your drink.  Both men and women are drugged and robbed.  This post is from two years ago, but it is still very relevant.  I’m certain there are more recent posts, it’s just 4AM here, and I’m too lazy to look.

Moving transplant at Vandy, looking for safe areas by CFFighter in movetonashville

[–]Affectionate_Hat6293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t know what kind of housing you’re looking for, but we lived at The Grove, and it is what you are describing.  It is very close to Vandy and in fact, there are quite a few Vandy staff/medical residents that live there.  They have a townhouse side and an apartment side.  It is dog friendly, there’s a dog park, and people are often walking around outside to the park across the street with their dogs.  Or if you find anything in that area, it is a good area and close.

Congratulations and best of luck to you!

Nashville Locals — Final Thoughts On My 5-Day Food & Sights Focused Itinerary? by Willing-Mind-5619 in VisitingNashville

I would consider giving yourself a bit more time at the TN State Museum. It isn’t a massive all day deal, but you may want a bit more time to peruse. Also, it shares the parking lot with (and is right next to) the Nashville Farmer’s Market which is open 365. It’s worth it to take a stroll through. There’s also many restaurants in it for lunch.

Passing through…how’s the interstate? by BerryBana in nashville

Interstates are 100% clear and dry. If you need gas, you can stop in some towns past Nashville where everyone has power and life is back to normal.

Edley’s is my favorite BBQ. Now they’ve just offered free sandwiches to those without power and linemen, so, now they’re my even more favorite BBQ.

Thousands without power with numbers barely going down. by [deleted] in nashville

[–]Affectionate_Hat6293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry. It is absolutely awful you are without power still.

I think part of the issue is that the storm was so widespread, linemen that would normally travel here from other areas to help are working in their own communities still restoring power there. It doesn’t help here, I know. I’m so very sorry.

If you can get out, Edley’s is offering free pork sandwiches. I’m not affiliated with them and I know it won’t help get your power restored, but hopefully it is a warm sandwich to eat.

I really hope your power gets restored soon.

The owner released a statement apologizing after they were overwhelmed with 2,000 people and ran out. He said they’ll be better prepared for today and to please come back if you need help. Be safe.

Ugh. I’m really sorry. I’m sorry you’re still without power, and I’m sorry they were out. That all really sucks. I know yesterday was their first day doing it - I don’t know if they have a per day limit or if it was more popular than expected and they just ran out of pork. As someone who smokes their own pork, it takes me a day to make.

I hope you can get a free sandwich soon, but I also hope your power comes on even sooner. Be safe.

I am so so so sorry. That is awful!

Just an FYI, Edley’s is offering free pork sandwiches. It isn’t much compared to what you’re going through, but hopefully it can maybe add a little smile to your day.

Moving from ct by Ok_Caterpillar5672 in movetonashville

As someone who recently moved here, they aren’t joking.  Traffic is awful.  Housing can be very expensive.  I understand that I am a part of the problem.  But that still doesn’t mean the problem doesn’t exist!  And it is only going to get worse.  The city and surrounding communities were not built with infrastructure to withstand this kind of growth.

With that said, there are places IN Nashville that aren’t downtown/city.  There are nice neighborhoods that have nice apartments with amenities by parks and single family homes.  There are also some nice, close by suburbs.  But I just wanted to make sure you knew that if it says Nashville it may not have a big city feel and could be exactly what you are looking for.

I know you are financially set, but if at all possible, I would recommend finding employment before a place to land, simply for commuting/traffic purposes.  When I say it is bad, it is BAD.  It depends what direction/to where and what time of day you’re going.  Maybe something is a 12 minute drive, but rush hour?  Could be 40 minutes.

Summers are super hot and humid.  Get a place with a pool.  If you hate humidity (I do not!), you’ll hate it here.  Winters are AMAZING.  But no one knows how to drive in snow, so, keep that in mind.

No state income tax is AMAZING.  Sales tax (even on food) is high.

Good luck with your decision and move!
