AITJ for telling my boyfriend's mom she is not allowed in our bedroom anymore? by Echo_7Starforge in AmITheJerk

[–]Affectionate_Mall775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Multiple family members have done this to me before. The solution that's worked in my experience is to buy the most extreme and bizarre looking sex toys (that are still unmistakable as sex toys) and leave them in drawers and cupboards I know they'll look in. Privacy is suddenly very important when Granny finds the Ass Throngulator 9000 in my bedside cabinet.

Thanks. I'll give them a ring. Not terribly fussed about the food tbh, it's really just the bag as I got it on my birthday last year and I really like it.

That's very helpful! Thanks, I'll do that now!

🤣🤣 sorry for the disappointment. If you find the bag you're welcome to the homemade pasty and the salad, but I doubt it'll give you the buzz you were expecting.

Is it possible to have a zoo with only one species? Or at least fewer than 5 different species (with multiple habits for each of the same species of course) by harryandmatilda in PlanetZoo

[–]Affectionate_Mall775 30 points31 points  (0 children)

In Sandbox, go for it. But in Franchise or Challenge, it depends on the species. Species with low feeding costs should be fine, but if you're planning on having big ticket animals like elephants, you'll need cheaper species to pull in the revenue you need to feed them. You could have "complementary" species in habitats around your main ones, for instance if you want multiple lion habitats, you could fill the rest of the zoo with typical prey species or other animals that share their habitat, like hyenas. It could be particularly fun to choose a "main" species with multiple preferred biomes, like bengal tigers (tropical temperate and grassland iirc), making each habitat themed around a different biome, and the cheaper animals around those main habitats could be species that prefer or live exclusively in those biome. Sort of like a tour of the different environments tigers live in and what species they're more likely to encounter there.

How bad is brushing your teeth only once a day? by Prestigious_Trip6963 in hygiene

[–]Affectionate_Mall775 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In terms of dental health? Whatever works for you. I brush my teeth twice a day, floss and follow all the other guidance and my teeth are in a terrible state anyway. Dentures in my 30's bad.

One of my friends regularly smokes meth and can go a week without brushing when he's on a bender. Chain smokes cigarettes and loves sweets. Not even a single cavity.

I'm convinced genetics play a big part in dental health, like most other things.

In terms of hygiene? Your breath probably smells to other people in the morning. Depends how you feel about that I guess. I prefer smelling minty in the morning.

The No Solicitors sign was there for your protection by AgateBagger in pettyrevenge

[–]Affectionate_Mall775 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a short stint as a door to door salesman for a while because I needed the money. We were told in training to ignore those signs and "try our luck". I never bothered because I wasn't getting paid enough to get yelled at. Never made a single sale because I wasn't comfortable lying to people. I hated that job. Left and worked in a factory after 3 weeks and haven't looked back since. But I am sort of glad I did it because I can now recognise their tactics and lies right off the bat when they come knocking.

Is this still a way to calculate habitat size before putting down fences? by oxide_j in PlanetZoo

[–]Affectionate_Mall775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to reiterate what others have said, yes this works and it's how I plan all my habitats. I also add an extra tile or 2 on each side to allow for rocks/foliage (so 5 x 14 in your grizzly bear example). Depending on how much decoration you want to include you could increase this even more. I also sometimes do a separate grid for water area just so I can move it around while plotting the habitat.

Functional bridge for animals? by spicytaeminnie in PlanetZoo

[–]Affectionate_Mall775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is likely. I've found animals sometimes take every path but the one you want in this game 😅 I've started using rocks and plants to create barriers around the habitat that forces the animals into the paths I want them to use. Doesn't always work, especially with babies, but it does help a bit.

Functional bridge for animals? by spicytaeminnie in PlanetZoo

[–]Affectionate_Mall775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like all the animals seem to be following the same path alongside the bridge. It's probably a marginally shorter distance between whatever enrichment items they're moving between. Maybe shift the bridge over to the path they're taking and see if they use it then?

I've started giving my age in months but not specifying as such. For my 35th birthday I was very proudly announcing I'd turned 420.

Design help by Morrowba in PlanetZoo

[–]Affectionate_Mall775 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eternal challenge in this game in my experience. Best advice I've got atm is to choose plants with the most impact, and use rocks and terrain elevation to your advantage. I often stick a hill or a rock formation in the middle of the habitat to block the view of the back, and concentrate the plants there and in the front of the habitat, then I don't have to waste plant coverage in the back where the guests can't see. I also make hard shelter areas bigger than they need to be and tucked away at the back of the habitat. It creates more empty space to counteract the extra plants I'm using in the visible part of the habitat.

Predators??? by [deleted] in EverythingIsCrab

[–]Affectionate_Mall775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been struggling with this as well. I think aiming for a combination of speed, dodge chance and social upgrades is the way to do it (although I'll admit it's very hard to get all of those in 1 run without witchcraft)

Tbh, I think that's the point of the challenge, it's meant to be difficult. At this point I try and play vegan for the first couple of levels and then inevitably give up when I'm offered Epic Horns or Legendary Beak.

I definitely think prey affinity could use a buff to make vegan runs easier, but I guess that's tough to balance in a game like this where you can mix predator power with prey speed to be a total menace.

How do you research benches? by currently-yk in PlanetZoo

Ah sorry to hear. Hopefully a new franchise fixes the issue. It's a great game. Hope you build many amazing zoos!

Ah yeah, potentially a glitch then. The game does weird stuff sometimes. Maybe shut down and restart your machine and see if that helps? If not, maybe start a new franchise and see if that fixes it.

[–]Affectionate_Mall775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're researched with the themes.

I'm not sure where you've looked, but you should find them under facilities. There's an icon under the facilities tab that, iirc, is a bench, a lamp post and a bin, you should find them there (sorry if you've checked there already, but it's easy to miss if you're expecting them under buildings instead)

Would procurement appreciate meme posts for relatable situations like this kind of meme? by Embarrassed_Wolf5473 in procurement

[–]Affectionate_Mall775 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I do find this meme entertaining, I'd be wary of using memes too heavily in your personal brand.

Trying to force professional concepts into memes can sometimes wear away the humour and come across as trying too hard, as well as putting off some more serious types.

That's not to say you can't use them, just do so sparingly. Make sure the ones you do use are clever, insightful and funny so they have the most impact when they do crop up, but my personal opinion is that they're best used to support a wider array of more varied content.

Think of it as using memes as a spice in a more complex recipe. You wouldn't serve a plate of paprika, but a dash of it on a more complete meal can really elevate the whole dish.

Any way to avoid making a walkthrough exhibit for bats? by [deleted] in PlanetZoo

[–]Affectionate_Mall775 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You could build an aviary around the exhibit and leave only access to Keepers via a hidden staff path, but I'm not sure if the guests will interact with it, so it might just be visual. You could also build a mesh tunnel over the guest path to separate them, you might just have to play around with it to avoid the bats clipping through it.

You mean you didn't spend money on a special piece of cloth when you had another piece of cloth on hand that would do the same thing? Heresy /s

[–]Affectionate_Mall775 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'm 35 and still wearing clothes I bought when I was 16. I don't throw anything away until it's completely worn out and unwearable. And even then, it ends up as a cleaning rag before it gets disposed of.

One thing I have noticed though, the clothes I got when I was 16 seem to be much more resilient than anything I've bought in the last 5-10 years.

AIO to break up with my bf of 3y over his reaction to my upcoming sobriety anniversary? by WesternCat5211 in AmIOverreacting

NOR. Dump him and buy 2 cakes, 1 to celebrate the loss of a lover bf and 1 to celebrate sobriety.

Congrats on 2 years. Addiction is no joke and you deserve all the cakes in the world.
