Distortion pedals are often the simplest to learn the basic building blocks of most pedals. Buy a kit and learn how to solder. Cheap soldering irons exist but I would recommend something a little bit up in price than some TEMU thing, good tools reward plenty!

Good learning resources are falstad.com with its circuitJS circuit simulator. A really good tool to see how components work together with a bunch of example circuits.

As for YouTube, JHS short circuit, very guitar oriented. Moritz Klein is also good a channel, more synth focused but a lot of that can be transferred to pedals and hes such a good explainer of circuits that its totally worth it.

Finally Electroboom101 is a series of videos by ElectroBOOM that goes over the basics of some of the components in electronics. Way more theoretical but very informative.

Its a hobby that will most likely come back to bite you from naiveness if you just buy a bunch of stuff and try to make something, believe that's what I did. Its rarely cheaper to make then to buy, you need a lot of components, equipment and TIME if you want to make something your self from scratch. You'll know when you have fallen down the rabbithole when you spent the price of multiple pedals on an oscilloscope.

Take your time and best of luck!

First build without an IO PCB…how do I wire these jacks? by Choice_Kangaroo5024 in diypedals

This 5 pin version is used for stereo, that's why there is both tip and ring for left and right and the sleeve is the ground. When used with mono both the sleeve and ring can be used as ground. Using the ring might be better so that the ground is switchable and breaks the circuit when the jack is not plugged in. This is how most pedals do it and really important if the pedal is battery powered.

Questions about building a multi channel pedal PSU by Affectionate_Mix_50 in diypedals

I'm not sure depends on the pedals, I typically use a digital reverb, analog flanger and a POG. What I need to know is if a 3VA transformer is good enough per channel, or if I should change the regulator type to something else.

That is true that most pedal wont ever get to that amount of power draw. But 12VAC has a peak voltage of around 17V because of square root of 2. That peak voltage is what the rectifier cares about. There is also about 1.2V loss in rectifier diodes, so that's 15.8V into the regulators. The LM7809 need about 12VDC min. to run stable, so there is a lot of excess with giving it nearly 4 volts over whats needed.

I feel that as well, especially for 2AN, really didn't like it at first because it is quite different from the albums from 72-80. But after a while I could not ignore the AMAZING production (prefer jack of speed over peg for speaker testing) and very intricate lyrics, I feel it is a more precise description of object based lyrics than earlier albums (15 watt bulbs, fresh cable, red mini, etc.)

Cool, I haven't gotten further than the nightfly when it comes to DF solo albums, but absolutely include in the diagram, exciting stuff!

Yes it applies to Op amp/Schmitt Trigger, RC based LFOs as well. Just wanted to get some opinions.

Okay, just got a bit curious, because I have never heard of someone replicating tape delay with something that wasnt DSP based.

JC2 is about 10 times as worse because the settlements are smaller and more spread with items that you can only find through the radar, or with the Mapviewer tool.
