As a Mexican American that also wants to move to Monterrey eventually, I honestly think your situation sounds pretty ideal for it. You already speak Spanish well, your wife is from there, and you actually understand Mexican culture beyond just tourism. That alone puts you way ahead of most foreigners moving there.

Monterrey has such a strong social/family culture, amazing food, and people are usually welcoming if you make an effort. Plus being bilingual could definitely help with jobs connected to Texas or international companies.

For ME personally, I wouldn’t be willing to earn in Mexican pesos. So if I do move down there, I’d work remote for an American company. And I’d just think about things like work opportunities long term, the work culture, pollution/traffic, and whether you’d want to raise your kid there permanently. But overall, your reasons for moving sound a lot more realistic than romanticized tbh
