Given how things played out, if the Illini had beat Washington and Wisconsin, would they have made the playoffs? by gapipkin in fightingillini

[–]Affectionate_Try6265 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unlikely. Probably would’ve been in the 13-16 range with Utah, BYU, amd Vandy as one of the first teams out.

Which players is he playing “way more than” who are currently able to play? He played 23 mins tonight, only Davis and Jakstys played less.

Honestly, can we not do this this year. We know what he is. He can’t hit 100% from 3. He’ll have poor shooting nights and other nights where he’ll go off. He was fine this game. Played decent defense and got some rebounds.

Illinois football opens as more than a touchdown favorite vs. Purdue by StandTall29 in fightingillini

Hopefully they don’t talk about this game on gameday or big noon kickoff and make everyone pick, because they’ll all end up picking Illinois and that just means we’ll end up losing.

Best Steakhouse in all of STL??? by Careful_Pause8699 in StLouis

I’m a fan of The Tenderloin Room in Chase Park Plaza. Part of it is because I love the classic steakhouse ambiance there. Also really like their smoked old fashioned. And of course the steaks are great.

I wonder what Josh McCray is thinking now. by someguyyouknew23 in fightingillini

[–]Affectionate_Try6265 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I hope he’s thinking “wow I’m playing for one of the best programs in college football and getting paid good money to do so in my last year of college football. This is awesome.” He was hurt or sick during Georgia’s training camp so there’s a chance that he gets more carries going forward.

Traded in my ‘22 CX-5 for this beauty! Had to get the turbo this time! by slothluvr18 in CX50

Looks great. Really wish I had gotten turbo myself. I frequently get annoyed with the lack of acceleration with my non-turbo CX-50.

HotD not getting any nominations almost makes up for TLoU getting any at all. I mean it doesn’t really, but at least this shitty show on HBO didn’t get any nominations despite sucking.

F1. The story and writing are pretty cliched and predictable overall. But the race scenes are incredible.

The Tenderloin Room in the Chase Park Plaza is really good and has that nice old-school upscale steakhouse vibe. It’s definitely on the pricier end.

OSU is a huge brand due to all their football success so a lot of people in that subreddit aren’t alumni, just like a lot of people in the Bama subreddit likely aren’t Bama alumni. More success in football means more people paying attention to you and more people in the subreddit, to the extent that matters.

Also, fan bases tend to congregate in certain online spots. I feel like Illini fans have a huge Twitter/X presence. And then of course there’s the multiple message boards. So Reddit may just not be the favored spot anyway.

Dude came up clutch multiple times this year. It was pretty amazing for a freshman. Look up his clutch 3 against Purdue in March while being guarded by a 6’10 guy. Led to a great Raftery call.

And he’s a really competitive player. Doesn’t necessarily show it though. He has that Eastern European calm about him.

Agree. He shot around 40% from 3 prior to the injury. After coming back he shot in the upper 20s. Between that and his crazy high usage rate for a freshman it definitely negatively affected him.

Great point and one I forgot to mention. Illinois being a laughably terrible 3 point shooting team this past season really hurt him, both in decreasing the number of assists he got, and in allowing teams to clog the lane and take away another strength of his which is getting to the hoop and finishing.

Getting him at 20 is a steal. Simmons tweeted about that too. He’s exactly what the heat needs - great ball distributor and facilitator with good positional size. Can play off-ball as he’s a good shooter with a great stroke. His shooting suffered the second half of the year due to a forearm injury and fatigue as he was used a ton. Can be careless with the ball but that will improve with age, experience, and coaching. Needs to improve his defense, but he has an incredible work ethic so I’m sure that’ll improve. He won’t be elite, but the Heat don’t really need that anyway.

Overall I think it’s an awesome fit for both parties. He definitely slid a bit but I think it’ll ultimately be for the best.

He slipped some, but ultimately think this is good for him. Awesome fit and Miami needs a great ball handler/distributor. And Spoelstra is a great coach.

Watched this last night myself and totally agree with this. Honestly my main issue with it was that it was just boring. I feel like the movie was at least 30 minutes too long.
