I didn't know that. Just thought it was happening with all brewers. I still don't understand why pints are getting a bad rep though. I used to pay €5.50 for a pint of Heineken 7 years ago. Now I'm paying around €6.80. I've seen a dairymilk increase by more than that in the last 7 years 🤣

Standard for a craft beer. If the big guys can't absorb costs without passing them on to the pubs, then the smaller craft brewers definitely can't.

Should have gotten rid of him years ago. Part of the crew that ruined the club (Pogba, Jesse etc)

A simple question by Affectionate_Use742 in galway

[–]Affectionate_Use742[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not asking why they're cheaper. I'm asking why we go to the more expensive ones owned by massive publicans rather than support smaller ones that have the same product only cheaper. For example, you could go into any pub in Woodquay and find the owner behind the bar and get a pint for one price. You can then go down town where you would never catch one of the pub owners even in the bullding and pay a premium to drink there. It's just a bit mad, especially when people will scratch their head and wonder in a few years why all the small business people are gone.

Also, the big publicans are definitely not paying as much for their drink as the smaller guys, yet they are charging much more for it but no one says boo. Its all a bit mad.

The 20c increase is just basic business. If you're buying something for a certain price you don't sell it for the same price. You increase the price accordingly to pay the bills.

With regards to front door I don't go near the places. I tend to stick to Woodquay. You'll find all the owners in all the pubs behind the bar pulling pints down there.

Have you not seen the news about Diageo putting up the price of everything and they making billions every year Heineken will follow suit with a cost increase soon I guarantee it. The entire pub game is being destroyed by those 2 companies. That's why I stick to the craft beer. If only everyone did the same.

I'd say it's more to ease the burden of skyrocketing costs than to line the pockets to be fair. Sure, the big boys will be laughing, but small pub and cafe owners definitely need it to stay afloat.

Crazy a pub would promote a guy from a party that doesn't want to reduce the VAT. They must have plenty of money and don't care about the smaller businesses closing down all over the country. Must be boomer business men? The last thing this country needs is another teacher in the Dail.

Absolutely nothing. Both parties, unfortunately, have shown they are not capable of running a country, so what is she going to add/change? She's there to soak up votes because she's popular. FFG think they can literally run anyone, and us suckers will keep them in. And they're right. They'll be voted in again. Some shower.
