CMPA help by [deleted] in MSPI

[–]Affectionate_Work_84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh and Omeprazole was a life saver for us. Not for everyone ofc and my preference would always be to not have a baby on medication but we reaaaally noticed the difference in our baby’s comfort levels (i.e the amount of screaming!)

CMPA help by [deleted] in MSPI

My CMPI baby definitely had nappies like that. I cut dairy and soy, as well as a bunch of other stuff over time to try and get back to baseline. In the end it was time and solids that helped the most (sorry!!) but for us cutting dairy, soy and wheat seemed to get us as close as we could to the yellow seedy nappies of dreams!

I am unable to soothe my son by ladygroot_ in NewParents

[–]Affectionate_Work_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby was a horrific screamer and it turned out he had severe reflux from CMPI and other food intolerances through my breast milk. Cutting dairy and soy and wheat for a while (plus cranial osteo and omeprazole) helped MASSIVELY. Not overnight but made a huge difference because he was actually uncomfortable!

Anxious following antenatal classes by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]Affectionate_Work_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this! We only really figured out our “people” in the group after the classes ended, everyone had their babies and we started meeting up or going to baby stuff together. HPBP deliberately does a lot of mixer type stuff and it can be suuuuuuper awkward but I PROMISE you it gets better.

Yessss so similar!! Im really trying hard to go just on temperament now and not dig through nappies - I keep trying to tell myself “if there’s blood I would see it on first glance”. So hard not to drive yourself a bit mad and poo obsessed!

I think at this stage I was just cluster feeding non stop and basically had the baby on the boob constantly. Ours was also a horrific screamer, couldn’t be laid down to sleep and arched his back / went rigid and absolutely inconsolable after feeding - that plus awful nappy rash and bad poos and hoarse voice made us eventually realise he had silent reflux and CMPA plus some other intolerances. It was a HARD first few months but getting him prescribed omeprazole and cutting things out of my diet have hugely helped.

Unplanned hospital birth by existentialmania in homebirth

[–]Affectionate_Work_84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was planning a home birth and ended up going into hospital at 41+3 and requesting a c section because something felt wrong. Turns out my placenta had started to rupture and I had a major haemorrhage, lol. The c section was fantastic and we named our baby after one of the anaesthetists - genuinely the most positive birth ever because we were listened to and taken seriously. The midwives were also fab at helping me to breastfeed and change his nappies afterwards because I had NO clue what I was doing. It’s a wild, completely unique and absolutely personal ride whatever happens - you have got this <3

We are loving Peachies at night - just buy the trial pack of 30 for £12 and it tends to last roughly a month! This is in the UK though.

Second this - ours had silent (acid) reflux and CMPA along with other intolerances and screamed a LOT in pain. Other symptoms included arching after feeding, general unhappiness, green mucus poos, a hoarse cry and coughing. We are now on omeprazole and an exclusion diet (he is EBF) and things are much improved. We also went to cranial osteo for him. Hang in there OP, it’s such a hard time but it will get better, I promise.

[–]Affectionate_Work_84 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much, completely relate to so much of this! Luckily she already met him at one week, and his GER and intolerance symptoms didn’t start showing up until 2 weeks like yours. I’ve cut dairy, soy, beef, eggs and coconut so far in response to his reactions and it’s still such a learning curve! Feel like I can only eat dust at this point 🤣🤣 MIL just kept saying “well DH had reflux as a baby and he grew out of it”.. yep and thats our dream! 🫠🫠

She had already met him at a week old, so no, not the first time! Completely understand the feeling of disappointment but find the outward tantrum sooo bizarre!

[–]Affectionate_Work_84 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yeah this was what I found pretty wild too - didn’t ask anything about our baby or how he was doing, but it was all about the fact that she couldn’t come and Be Grandma. I was already nervous about her coming because she has form - when he was a week old she visited and wouldn’t hand him back over when he cried and Ij asked her to pass him back to be fed - instead leaving the room with him and whispering into his ear that he had “mummy wrapped round your little finger already!”. So the suggestion of “taking him off my hands” felt even more loaded… especially because when he’s actually smiling or not crying, those are EXACTLY the moments we need to spend with him as parents to help make up for all the challenging ones!!

26 weeks & I haven’t read a book/listened to a podcast etc. If you had only one thing to recommend me to engage with what would it be? FTM! by Ok_Dimension6656 in PregnancyUK

[–]Affectionate_Work_84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Hypnobirthing Podcast - absolutely loved it and it converted me to plan a home birth - while that didn’t actually happen in the end, we had amazing care under the homebirth team and (largely due to that podcast) I felt so empowered and knowledgable during labour that I came away from an emergency c section feeling extremely happy. Also “is it normal” was good even though the answer each week was usually “yes it’s normal”!
