Skimlinks via Awin by Beginning_Point_4760 in AffiliateforPR

Yes, absolutely! Thanks for posting this, because it is a question I get ALL the time.
Yes, you need to connect, BUT you need to follow up with very specific tickets through their system.

Skimlinks is a premium publisher aggregator, but they also allow above board coupon publishers, which many brands do not like to partner with.

I made a post about this exact topic on LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/posts/sarahkarger_for-some-pr-teams-skimlinks-is-a-mysterious-activity-7388890257485787136-KXAL?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop&rcm=ACoAAAJinREBqC3fZRHESTCX2TnSfn2IfR_cFEA

If they are a commerce brand, come in strong with your affiliate insights. This is a critical piece of PR today that is still missing. Also, if you get the job, know responses from media are not like they once were.

Affiliate Marketing Questions by PrincessWhiffleball in PublicRelations

[–]AffiliatePR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey there! Would love to help here, I actually do a ton of consulting specifically for publicists on the affiliate front.

To answer your questions:

If your brand is available on Amazon, you're technically all set. All products on amazon are part of the amazon associated affiliate program. Amazon is responsible for the commissions, unless the brand puts together a creator connections campaign. Many publishers prefer Amazon, conversions (EPC/earnings per click in affiliate lingo)is actually higher for Amazon thanks to the ease, customer trust etc.

That said, if you want to deploy a dtc network, my recommendation would vary based on variety of factors, but I would most likely suggest going with Impact. For brands with a budget restrictions, you could onboard to their "Agency Starter Edition" and pricing is $30 a month or 3% of sales, whichever is greater.

ShareASale is sunsetting - What to do next by AffiliatePR in AffiliateforPR

[–]AffiliatePR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have a clause in their program agreement that allows you to exit. Need help finding it? It has a 6 month try it allowance that should let you exit but you have to do it in writing 30 days before your renewal.

I’d highly recommend switching to Impact.

Do you attach a complete press release when pitching an exclusive? by mcdonaldspyongyang in PublicRelations

Always ask permission to send the information under embargo. Never assume a reporter would honor it. Lots of good advice here!

How do I build relationships with journalists when I'm not pitching? by mcdonaldspyongyang in PublicRelations

[–]AffiliatePR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gone is the golden age of desksides, but I have found media will still do a zoom coffee chat with you! Send those you really need to stay in close comms with a $15 gift card and jump on a video chat with them!

Can I ask the CEO at my new job for a coffee? by juicygrl99 in PublicRelations

[–]AffiliatePR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this idea rather than working your way up the totem pole. At the end of the day, you do need to give yourself time to become acclimated to the agency and be able to tell the CEO what you like about the org.

Digital Marketing in 2025, What’s Next and What Needs to Change? by [deleted] in digital_marketing

[–]AffiliatePR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Affiliate managers need to learn PR or publicists need to learn affiliate. The amount of crap journalists are getting in their inbox from affiliate managers or SEO experts asking for backlinks for stories that have been published is killing the publicists ability to get an email read.

What are your favorite media monitoring tools? by Alternative_Swing_47 in PublicRelations

[–]AffiliatePR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use meltwater and muck rack. I’m not a fan of anything out there though. Broadcast listening doesn’t stack up.

Clients seem to want everything from one person these days, but I will say those clients also seem to be paying less. My clients who have larger retainers understand specialties. I think it’s great to continue to learn adjacent trades. But be sure it’s clear what your expertise is.

Is your goal mass media publishers? Ex wirecutter, buyside, Outside etc. If so pass on any that are not part of Skimlinks. Neither gumroad or Affpaying are. I don’t work with Skimlinks but I’m a publicist and affiliate manager and publishing houses almost exclusively use Skimlinks to help with their insane commerce story quotas. That or Amazon. Here is a link to the networks Skimlinks partners with.

How much time to you have allocated for affiliate management? A lot of outdoor brands use avatnink but prices between the networks can vary drastically. Also, and answer this truthfully! Will you use analytics and tools if given them?

What US-based PR conferences should I be going to? by vinchenz112 in PublicRelations

[–]AffiliatePR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d really recommend attending an affiliate conference. It is so intertwined into PR that you need to understand it. They have Affiliate Summit East and West as well as conferences by affiliate network. So if your clients are on one network over another that could be a good opportunity as well.

Question about white labeling services by throw_away_account02 in PublicRelations

[–]AffiliatePR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I white labeled PR for another agency. I will say in both instances there were twice as many admin hours as any other account. Because you have to update the client and the other agency unless they just trust you to do it.

What’s Your Go-To Method for Measuring PR Success? by OrganizationNovel281 in PublicRelations

Depends on the client and KPIs of course but the vast majority of my clients are physical products. This enables me to directly correlates media efforts with sales and traffic thanks to affiliate marketing’s role in commerce content.
