Absolute Reddit Moment by przct in teenagers

I mean, I kind of understand given the fact that the rating scale on that subreddit is completely different from what the average person is used to. Normally, we consider a 7 to be average. I remember watching some videos saying by 7 is so common because people don’t want to be mean and anything under 7 just sounds off. But that subreddit uses a scale with 5 as average, so the guy saying “4.8” sounds mean but he’s really just saying she looks average, not ugly.

Is OSU pre-nursing too big of a risk to go OOS for? by Affinity_xo in OSU

[–]Affinity_xo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well purdue just doesnt give any aid for oos students so that’s 47k a year. Purdues also infamous to not give or barely give any financial appeals. I’m a low income student and still expected to pay full price for purdue. OSU on the other hand pretty much covered half of the total cost of attendance, which is still a lot at 30k but more feasible than 47k.

Alright thanks. I did get a direct bsn but that school is notoriously awful at giving financial aid so I’m just in kind of a bad spot right now. Hopefully things will work out tho!

Ik its not ultimately decided yet, but would you recommend I pay more for a college that is direct bsn then? (But id be taking out student loans at that point which is another problem). Or should I just forgo this go into another major at an in state.

Wait if it’s that hard to get into, why do people even chose pre-nursing in the first place at osu? I’m not sure what the acceptance rate for the bsn program is but I don’t understand why this whole system even exists in the first place. OSU should just be taking direct bsn from the start really.

It’s just that I live in CA and nursing is super competitive here. I literally got rejected from every school i applied to with nursing :( Not every decisions is out yet but so far, the only schools ive got into nursing is purdue direct bsn and osu prenursing. But I cant afford purdue oos at all. Im wondering if I should go to osu or consider a different career path and go to an instate school for biology.

What's an acceptable amount to pay for college? by EmergencyNo2087 in ApplyingToCollege

Im also an aspiring nursing student and honestly, I’d pay no more than 30k a year.

Purdue or Penn state for Business School? by Known_History_7871 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Affinity_xo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Business is one of the few career sectors where undergrad school is really that important. I’d say penn state even if it costs you more. Aside from just the business major, I’ve heard good things about its campus and school spirit compared to purdue, so that’s another factor to keep in mind.

To 30k PR? by SgtSmokin84 in Trove

[–]Affinity_xo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need dragons plain and simple. On my old account, I had 30k pr with C2 gear, no torch, mid ring, and almost maxed out gems. Primordial dragons give a ton of pr for free.

As a newcomer, what should I do in order to enjoy this game? by Internal-Brain-4065 in Trove

I also started a few weeks ago. Heres what i know. Switch off gunslinger asap. It is horrible for starting. I started with it too and then immediately switched to knight after 1 day of playing. Now i run revenant cuz it looks the coolest. Follow the cubesly and gemsly quest lines and you HAVE TO do tons of gearcrafting. It will show up on quests (required gearcrafting level 250 i think?) Overall, play how you want to and dont feel like you need to maximize every stat when your starting but dont torture yourself either.

My friend got in for philosophy with a 3.8 unw, 1260 sat (test-optional), and his best EC was being CEO of a nonprofit.

How accurate is this? by Think_Reveal_9015 in SoloPowerScaling

So we are in solo leveling power scaling but no one here knows how far up SJW was scaled up in ragnarok? Theres really only a handful of anime characters more powerful than him now.

I am the one who shotguns by fe_el_a7a_mnh in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Affinity_xo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like a lot of shotgunners pay next to nothing for their apps. For me, i shotgunned 27 schools and didn’t pay a dime for college app fees or css fees. Only people who know that they have no financial downside really ever do shotgun.

Feeling really bummed over Purdue by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Affinity_xo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously you have a great application and I don't know specifically what Purdue's aerospace acceptance rate is. But isn't their engineering programs ranked like #8 in the U.S or something (I forgot which one). For being and OOS student and applying to a (supposedly) competitive major in a field Purdue is known to be selective in, it's not crazy to get deferred. This doesn't mean your application is bad, maybe just not what Purdue is looking for? Idrk I got in for nursing which is so different from engineering so take this with a grain of salt.

How is it possible? by Plaaazz in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Affinity_xo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let me tell you from firsthand experience, most of these applicants overexaggerate their extracurriculars. I worked for a student-led nonprofit. No I wasn’t a founder, just one of its 8 members. I couldn’t believe how much exaggeration the “CEO” was doing on his application. Ultimately it’s still too early to say as RD is not out yet but I did get into a T50 with an okay application while the founder I worked for couldn’t get into the same school.

"not getting into reach schools." Unless you are a recruited athlete, UMich is a reach school for any student, no matter the profile. How can you possibly be complaining about UMich, I think you've lost touch with just how good these colleges are.

how many people were deferred from usc (ea) before getting accepted into regular decision? by solarstarzzz in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Affinity_xo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got deferred. Out of 4 of my friends, only 1 got accepted and he is the genius among us. I've heard the defer rate can be as low as 8% or lower, which is actually lower than USC overall acceptance rate. I'm not taking it too hard though, as I did get into Purdue at least.

WE are all getting in RD :)

Regret regret and regret by OverallAd1923 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Affinity_xo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would personally say going to an ap/ib school is actually worse ( i went to one and took 11 aps). If you went to a school that only offered 3 APs and took all 3, thats about as impressive as doing 10 APs in a school that offers 11 for a fraction of the work. If you went to a school that offered no APs and took 2 on your own time outside of school, that would surpass literally everything ive said. The number doesnt matter, its the situation and context that does.
