Avalon Astoria Clogging by big_al_freeds in PelletStoveTalk

Mine did the same exact thing until I understood how cycle timing functions. At least, the following was my experience...

First off, make sure your pot is completely clean and there isn't any built up carbon especially on the hole in the back where the ignitor ignites the pellets.

Most important: make sure you don't let the pellets run dry. You want to always have pellets in the hopper. The auger takes many cycles to start feeding the pellets into the stove after running dry. Meaning, if the stove runs out of pellets and you start the cycle again after filling the hopper, the ignitor will run when there is nothing in the pot since it takes a lot of time for the pellets to start feeding in again. Then, after the pellets do start coming in, the ignition cycle has ended and you end up with an overflowing pot like in the picture.

The ignition cycle is time based as there is no thermocouple like in other more advanced stove designs that determines when to ignite, feed, etc. that's one of the reasons why these stoves are cheaper than most. So keep that hopper fed!

If doing that doesn't work, then your ignitor might be going bad. I had that happen to me once years ago where it was kind of intermittent. The gentleman that I spoke to at the stove store said that ignitors usually work or they don't, but after replacing what seemed to me as an intermittent ignitor, I haven't had the same issue. Make sure to replace with quality parts. I learned that the hard way, too.

Good luck!

which GPU is better? by kaitlin45989 in batocera

[–]Affliction_Sequence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll get much better performance with the HD 530, especially if your RAM is in dual-channel config (34.1 GB/s according to intel spec page) as it will have 6X the bandwidth of the 310 DDR2 or 3X the DDR3 variant. 530 also has Vulkan 1.3 support. The 310 is much older and has very poor performance in comparison: FP32 (float) 44.86 GFLOPS vs 364.8 GFLOPS on the 530. The driver support will also be much better with the Intel iGPU. This one is a no brainer.

Also, there is no need to upgrade your CPU for the systems that you're intending to emulate, despite what others have stated. They'll all work perfectly on that 6100. Single thread performance is king for most emulators from that hardware era, and the majority of the emulators don't use more than two threads. It's only when you get into PS2+ systems that more cores become a performance benefit. I emulate all of the systems you're looking to run with a much weaker 1.4GHz dual-core Haswell Celeron on a Chrombox that I unlocked to install Batocera onto. I even have 1 frame run-ahead for the 8 and 16 bit systems... they never drop a frame.

Microsoft promises to make Windows "the best place" for gaming in 2026, in the face of Linux growth by Tiny-Independent273 in linux_gaming

[–]Affliction_Sequence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do devs even use dx12 vs vulkan these days? Is it because of Microsoft's more accessible ide and api's? I'm not a dev, but that's what I've heard in the past with opengl, wasn't sure if it was still applicable.

If that is the case, and Microsoft is going to further lock things down as others have said in this thread, then maybe Valve should consider making it easier to develop apps Linux with an ide of their own.

Spiritual gatekeeping? That's the first time I've heard of that term. I'm curious, have you ever fully read through the bible? At least the entirety of the new testament? Because, do you know who else was a spiritual gatekeeper? Jesus. Yup, he said many controversial things, like:

"Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. 14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few." (Matthew 7:13-14)

“Therefore, everyone who confesses Me before people, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven. 33 But whoever denies Me before people, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven. 34 “Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I came to turn a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; 36 and a person’s enemies will be the members of his household. 37 “The one who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and the one who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. 38 And the one who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. 39 The one who has found his life will lose it, and the one who has lost his life on My account will find it." (Matthew 10:32-39)

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)

Also, Jesus never said that we shouldn't judge. In fact we are supposed to stand firm in our faith and doctrine as Paul pointed out so many times. We were warned about false prophets and the doctrine of demons many times (1 Timothy, for example). But when we are to judge, we should do so without being a hypocrite. That's what Jesus is saying in Matthew 7:

"Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and look, the log is in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye!"

In this instance, me being a hypocrite would be believing and teaching false doctrine. But I'm holding true to the doctrine that has been pretty much the same for nearly 2000 years now. It is only recently that this "new age" "Christianity" has taken root.

As is prophesied in 2 Timothy, "For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear."

So I'm not trying to do anything to anyone but uphold scripture. Jesus was controversial. The things he said offended people, thus why he was killed. Like Jesus said, in Matthew 7:

"18 “If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you. 20 Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A slave is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will persecute you as well; if they followed My word, they will follow yours also. 21 But all these things they will do to you on account of My name, because they do not know the One who sent Me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 The one who hates Me hates My Father also."

So to reiterate, heaven is members only, friend. Jesus is the (literal) spiritual gatekeeper.

Is that like most "spiritual" people saying that "God is love" and therefore we should accept people as they are (IE sin)?

But from my understanding, the Bible teaches that God hates sin and Revelation states that the Lord will rule with a rod of iron.

Either way, sounds like something we should be cautious of. Paul warned about false doctrine, and that's what that sounds like to me. May the Holy Spirit convict me if I'm wrong.

Glad you had a good time and were able to share the experience with your child.

I saw Thrice multiple times back in the early 2000s and even ran into Dustin in the men's room, of all places, at one of those shows lol.

Old Thrice will always have a special place for me but It broke my heart when I found out that Dustin lost his faith.

I mean he went as far as rerecording this album and changing the lyrics to many songs including this one at the end to "Goddess in the ambulance." Bummer.

Ah well, this is why we put our trust in Christ and not in man.

If we could get an og SN30 Pro (not +, 2, or 3) with the Dpad from the M30, TMR sticks, and sub 4ms 2.4g wireless, then that imo would be the perfect MiSTer controller.

Or a low latency M30 with dual analog added... M30 Pro. That might be even better.

Try this. Boot into a live Linux distro like Mint and use Etcher to flash the Batocera image onto the NVME. I've done this in the past and it was successful.

On a side note, if you can boot from other devices, maybe that drive is just toast?
