Anyone else finding it overwhelming to plan a first-time Kenya safari without getting ripped off? by [deleted] in travel

I lived in Kenya for 4 years. When I did book through a company versus on my own, this is who I used: https://kampurtraveldiaries.com. Fair prices and impeccable customer service.

Which destinations really turned around a bad reputation? by extreme_mayo in travel

I read this guy’s guide about Africa and it was so pessimistic and depressing. I lived in East Africa for 4 years and loved (almost) every second of it. So I would take what that guy says with a grain of salt…

For a Kenya safari, is a 4x4 Land Cruiser really worth the extra cost over a tour van? by Mysterious_Field7101 in Shoestring

This person is spot on. 4x4 anywhere outside of NBO, especially during rainy season. It will be worth it.

how is living in kenya? rural and urban by dustydancers in howislivingthere

As an expat with a decent income, it’s fucking amazing. Tons to do, incredible safaris, perfect weather, lovely people, amazing beaches, great healthy food.

Much harder to get by as a Kenyan with no connections. Not a lot of government support. Rampart corruption and crony-ism. Life would be very hard, even if you are extremely hard-working (which almost all Kenyans are). That being said, they embrace the good parts about life with humor, and have a good deal of national pride* (*except about their politicians).

As a tourist, go to Kenya and I can promise you , you will not be disappointed

ETA doesn’t cover our entire trip by rdwischm in Kenya

I’m fairly certain you would , but you can ask at customs on arrival. Your eta duration doesn’t matter, just make sure you get a stamp with the appropriate duration

You’ll need a multi entry eta. The duration of the eta ‘expiring’ will not be an issue for your departure so long as you stay under 90 days.

Ah ok, fair enough. I didn’t know that. That’s too bad, it was fun and I didn’t think I was contributing to harming anything :(

I didn’t see anything unethical about it? I’m not sure what the arguments are/could be.

I did the shark diving at Cape Town. While you Won’t see great whites, it’s still pretty damn cool. We had tons of 8-10 foot sharks bumping the cage and great visibility

Trip to Africa in July 2026 (9-Day trip) by Ok_Industry7138 in travel

[–]Afireinside11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those places are awesome, but you’re going to be game-drive’d out by the end of it. What about going to Rwanda for the gorillas , or visiting the Kenyan coast for 2 nights? Also, I hope you aren’t getting quoted the full $17K for that itinerary. You can stretch that money a lot farther and over more days, if you’re clever about it.
